Can you trade free Palo meal for something else?

Just wondering...we made Platinum this year and get a free Palo meal with the new status. I know it is heresy to say, but we are not fans and have no desire to return to Palo. Do you think if we went to Guest Services they could exchange it for 20 dollar room credit or a few free drinks instead? Anything else?

None of the platinum perks really appeal to us. The reason we cruise Disney is because we love the experience!!

I never thought of asking for anything else at Guest Services before, but some friends suggested to do this. Should we try and ask? Has anyone else done this? Or should we just be happy with the cruise and not bother?

I can't answer your question; however, I suggest you give it a try and report back to us. IMHO, you've been on plenty of cruises and it wouldn't hurt to ask. I bet Guest Services has had the question before.

Sorry you don't care for Palo :sad1: .... and well, it never hurts to politely ask your question to Guest Services. :cutie: But my strong guess is that they will not have a substitute for you. Please let us know what they tell you.

I will ask on our cruise next month - we are going on the Disney Magic 9/2 for the British Isles :) Can't wait - have never been to Ireland or Scotland before!
We are just not foodies - I enjoy the kids peanut butter and jelly from room service for my dinner or chicken strips from the pool deck :) The Main Dining rooms are so good in my opinion as well (and again we order off the kids menu many times).

Like other families, our family is platinum and DS, who is under 18, does not get the Palo meal. Unfortunately that is the rule and we have to live by that, no sub or other credit.

This may not be popular but the entitlements for the Castaway Club levels are pretty clear. Disney extends theses as a courtesy to their loyal guests. While I can see asking for an accommodation in the most polite way as a reasonable request, it is still only a request. With the somewhat limited (and decreasing) entitlements that DCL has, I fear expecting them to adjust to every individual only risks the program further.

Yes on Brunch instead of Dinner at Palo but I kind of think the answer will be no as I have asked for a substitute for the sparkling wine before and was denied. I think it is a "use it or lose it" type perk. But I guess it can't hurt to ask. My opinion would be to ask and NOT report back if yes. If they say yes, take it and run. If they substitute and you post about it then others will ask for substitutions....same as with the character signatures on things dropped off. The perk just got too out of hand and they took it away. Just my honest opinion.

That kind of backfired on passengers! Now they bring them to character photo and I always seem to get behind the people on line with 10 things to sign and/or taking 10 photos with different family combinations. Ugh. Wish they'd limit that!

And Palo...they can keep that. Since they don't allow kids in, it wouldn't work for us.

Does the free Palo meal include brunch? From what I have seen, the dinner menu does not appeal to me but the brunch photos looked interesting.

What about brunch instead of dinner at Palo?

Agree w/PP! YES, to using it for Palo brunch! Mmmmm. :cutie:

I must agree with you, though I encouraged the OP to "let us know". I think in the day of the internet, where a "secret" can be almost instantly known world wide, not saying anything might be wisdom. Thanks for making this very good point. :flower2:

You honestly don't need to be a foodie to enjoy Palo, especially for brunch. Remy is another story I think. Palo brunch has eggs, pizza, desserts, pastries, etc. I sincerely doubt they will give you money in exchange for the perk. Why not try it once and see? What do you have to lose?

I agree with this. We are not foodies. Our 18yr old is a very basic eater. I chose to go to brunch, since I knew he would at least eat the eggs. He didn't eat much from the buffet part, but did have lasagna and something off the breakfast part. And really liked it. And since it was complimentary, it didn't matter if he didn't eat much.

Count me as another that says, give brunch a try. There are so many options at brunch, you will love the pizza and OMG the chicken parm is amazing!

** We had the British Isles cruise booked and were looking forward to it.
But last August we got a better surprise, our son and daughter in law were expecting their first child and I agreed to take care of him when she returned back to work (whoop, whoop) and didn't want to stick them just a couple months after she returned back with no one to watch him.
Someday we will get you Europe.

Have an amazing time.

Thanks for all the comments - the brunch does look more appealing than the dinner for us; but then when would I eat my chicken strips by the pool (I never outgrew the kid's menu) :)
We will ask at Guest Services and I will report back what they say. I expect nothing, which is totally fine - these are free perks and trust me, I am happy enough to be on a Disney cruise!!

Just think of the chicken parm as a grown up version of those chicken strips. :rotfl:
