Can you take outside food into the parks?

We take snacks into the parks as a pre-caution, I'm a type one diabetic and after walking so much and our ADR's at different times we take things like nutrigrain bars and water bottles.

Although, last year....
I had bought one of those Sigg bottles (the aluminum type ones) and it was filled with ice water that I had filled it with at the resort that morning, one of the guards in bag check actually OPENED my water, took a big whiff of it, looked in it..and then handed it to me with the top off... I am somewhat of a germaphobe, and it just irked me that he did that.. I immediately emptied it afterwards..

I suppose the information I read in a different thread might be useful in this thread as well. Someone was kind enough to let us know you can receive a free glass of ice water at any restaurant or vendor that serves drinks like coke, etc. from a fountain. All you have to do is ask. And they give you a huge cup of ice water too. With a lid. This may not be a big deal to some, but it really kept us hydrated and we found yet one more way to save some money. This is a very cool gesture on Disney's part and, for this reason and others, I LOVE DISNEY!

Yes you can take food, and not just snacks. Last October there were 9 of us in our group and we packed snacks and lunch in a soft sided cooler (not on wheels). It worked out great, as many times we would eat while waiting in lines, so most days we never even 'stopped' for lunch. We took buns with meat and cheese, veggies (carrots, peppers, snap peas), apples, bananas, juice boxes, frozen water bottles, granola bars, goldfish crackers and other things. It helped that we had a stroller to carry the cooler too.

We never had a problem at the security points, unless you count the fact that the guards often wanted to know when we were eating so they could come and join us since the food looked so good. :rotfl2:

We are going in February and plan to do the same thing again. This time there are 10 of us so the savings are great.
