I have heard conflicting info about this and I can't find any official answer on the Disney website :confused3 I mean little packs of crackers and juice boxes, etc.

Disney doesn't encourage bringing food in, and you cannot bring in glass bottles or big honkin' coolers, but a few snacks/drinks will be fine. :thumbsup2

I often see folks with soft-sided rolling coolers get through bag check with no issues whatsoever.

While I wouldn't encourage dragging in a soft-side rolling cooler, bringing in your own food or snacks can certainly save more than "a couple of bucks." Prices for food in the park is fairly expensive and, for a large family, that can add up drastically. For some, saving a "couple of bucks" is a awesome compromise that can make or break even doing a vacation. Why find fault with that? I say, congrats on finding ways to save money and have the best vacation you can.

I've seen rolling coolers. Especially during Fantasmic for some reason.

if it comes down to taking PB&J's so you can eat regular then you probably should not be there at all. in other words these trips cost between 4 and 6 grand for most people, if you factor in everything. if that extra 40 bucks a day for lunch is a deal breaker it makes the whole thing not add up. think about it."i have 5000.00 to go to WDW but we cant afford lunch" doesnt make sense does it?

To answer your question-yes, you can certainly can bring food like that into the parks.

We bring a lunch sized cooler which was big enough to hold lunch for 3 (kept cool with a frozen water bottle). We also had some extra snacks in the diaper bag. For us it is not just the savings but the conveniance of having ready snacks for our DS who has 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. DH is also a snacker. I would have probably spent more time in food lines or resaurants than on rides. I also like that a can choose healthy snacks that I know DS will eat.

I also think a family with 2+ kids or teenagers can spend a lot more $40/day on lunch and snacks.

No actually it doesn't make sense. We just got back from WDW and we took our own lunch, drinks and snacks in every day. Our trip did not cost anywhere near 4 to 6 grand. Actually it was just around 2 grand. I'd be willing to bet that my family had just as much fun, if not more, than people who eat in the park every day. We could spend $100 per day to eat in the park, but why spend the money on that when we could spend it elsewhere? I think you're way off saying that we probably shouldn't be there at all.

you are right of course. cost depends on length of stay and everyone has to make their own decision on budget. i was not trying to tell people how to spend their money. i was saying if WE were that tight we would bag it. enjoy your holiday.

You are not supposed to but people do it all the time and never get stopped

I agree we take in snacks and drinks. It saves us considerably. Plus we keep stuff in the room. It can save alot of money.

That is not accurate. This is directly from Disney World's website:

Q. Can food be brought into Walt Disney World® Resort and Theme Parks?

A. Guests are allowed to bring food items, such as snacks or foods that do not require heating, into any Walt Disney World® Resort. If you have items that need to be refrigerated, please ask the front desk Cast Member to have a refrigerator placed in your room. Please check with the front desk to see if there is a charge for use of the refrigerator. Guests are allowed to bring food items, such as snacks or foods that do not require heating, into any Walt Disney World® Theme Park. Just inform a Security Cast Member.

Bringing snacks not only saves you money but TIME, which for us, is at a PREMIUM at Disneyworld. :thumbsup2

Not sure what the official policy is, but here is what is usually in my backpack: A can of Diet Pepsi, 2-3 Capri Suns, a package of Pop Tarts, small packages if M&Ms, and small snack bags of cookies and/or chips. All these items are in plain sight and no one has EVER said a word to me at the inspection station. I'm sure that alcohol and glass are no-no's

We also bring water bottles and a few snacks like granola bars, cheez/cracker thingies, etc. It helps get everyone through to a meal time without slowing us down. And yes, we are aware of saving the $$$$. It really adds up!

I have been bringing sandwiches and drinks into the parks since 1991. No onw has ever said anything to me,even when I sit down at a CS eatery with my stuff and eat!!
