can you take a cab from MK to DTD

We have 5:30 reservations for BBB. I don't want to waste too much time with the bus system. How hard would it be to catch a cab?

Walk to the Contemporary and take a cab from there, or take the monorail or ferry to the Ticket & Transportation Center and grab a cab there. No cabs "at" the Magic Kingdom, just Disney transportation.

Could we also take the monorail to one of the hotels or would it be quicker to walk?

From the MK itself, the Contemporary would probably be the only place you could reasonably walk to. If you could "beat" the monorail there is something I can't say.

Usually quicker to walk to the Contemp to grab a cab.

Expect cab fare to be $15-18 plus tip, depending on traffic.
