Can you still carry alcohol on in your carryon...?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if you can still carry on say a bottle of wine in your carryon? I know you could before because I have done so in the past. I just know that with all the changes with airlines and luggage made in light of the WTC disaster that maybe that changed.

I don't know how that could be considered a weapon but I am still hoping someone could answer my question. If not, I will call the airline direct and check with them (Airtran). I'm just wondering if I will get thru security with it in tow?

Bump! Kinda curious about this myself. Had no problem on USair, out of San Juan, in March. But, due to recent circumstances....

I don't know the answer to this question - I would call your airline a few days before your trip and ask. (I say a few days because things are changing so often) I can't believe that if you can't bring nail clippers on plane that you would be allowed to bring on glass bottles.

Last year I tried to take a bottle of water on and they made me take a drink out of it to prove that it wasn't an explosive!

Continental just told me that a sealed bottle of wine (cork intact) may be carried on.

This is intriguing. I can't drink wine (get headaches :-( ) but I was going to take a small plastic (traveler) bottle of peach schnapps and I thought maybe it wasn't a good idea if they happened to check my carry-on. Also, we are flying out of a small regional airport on a commuter to Pittsburgh. I'll have a small carry-on. Can I expect it to be checked both places?? This will be our first flight since all the new security measures. Thanks for answers!

Not sure what you mean by a "traveler" bottle, but generally if you want to carry on any type of alcohol, it must be in it's original and "factory sealed" bottle.

You may not consume it onboard.

They hold the same amount as the small glass bottles, but are shaped more like a flask and are plastic. I really didn't want to take a full bottle but I guess if that's the rule, it's that or nothing. I wasn't even sure taking it was allowed. And of course it wouldn't be opened until we were checked in, etc. Thanks for the info.
