Can you stand another crocs question?

LOL! I know threads about crocs are in overabundance already, but I am desparately searching for a pair of shoes for our next trip. I have size 6 duck feet (very wide) and cannot find shoes that don't hurt. Last year, I wore a pair of very broken in reeboks with really soft leather so my feet had the chance to stretch the leather as much as possible but my feet were still killing me. They were a wide width too. Apparently my feet were so squished that I caused permanent nerve damage in my big toes and now have some numb areas in them.

So, I'm trying to avoid this problem for our next trip :confused3 . I tried on a pair of size small crocs and my toes were hitting the front outer side of the shoe. These were the "beach" model. The next size up was better for the width, but they were way too long. Are any of the other styles wider than the beach ones? They seem like they could be so comfy if only they ran a little bit wider.

Or, does anyone have any other suggestions for wide, duck feet?

THanks!

First off, Crocs run big. I wore a full size below, so you are probably looking for kids sized crocs.

Now, I have wide feet and the best thing you can do is try on everything! But the brands I like most are Ryka (made for women's feet which are broader across the ball of the foot and narrower at the heel and come in wide widths) and Sketchers.

Thanks Stacy, for the info. I have been searching my whole life for shoes that are comfortable and fit properly but haven't had any luck. I've never heard of Ryka sneakers before but will definitely try to find them in a store to try them on! I'm hoping they will work! It's either that, or I'm about ready to chop off my pinky toes that are always buldging out the side of my shoes, lol!

If you have a Sears near you, try Lands End Mocs. I'm pretty sure they come in wide. I wore a pair my last trip and my feet were so comfy-in fact, I tried to wear my sneakers one day and they just weren
t as comfy as the mocs. Good luck.

I bought a pair of the beach model crocs. I have large feet size 10/11 and wide. I bought the size 10/11 and my toes were touching the front of the shoe. I put them in the dryer on medium for 2 minutes. When they came out they were very squishy. I put my feet in and wiggled my toes all around till they weren't hot anymore. They now fit my feet perfectly.

:thumbsup2 I wore Ryka's throughout my last pregnancy...Let me tell you I'd like to go back to Lady Footlocker and kiss the girl who recommended them to me. They are wonderful. I am the opposite with very narrow feet and high arches however they come in all shapes and sizes. They are made just for women, and I now will buy them every time. Good luck hope you find what's best for you...

Quick note...another great comfortable brand of shoes is made by Dr. Scholl's, I have seen them at Wal Mart and my mother who is on her feet all day at work swears by them.

Have you tried New Balance tennis shoes? They come in very wide widths. I have a wide foot and they are the most comfortable for my feet!

Oh, forgot to mention that you may find Crocs very comfortable. They run wide. I thought they were too ugly to wear, but the comfort factor outweighs the ugliness!

I bought Rykas and Crocs fror our trip in January. I wore the Rykas 2 days and the Crocs 5 days. Both were comfortable, but Crocs win!

I got my first pair of Rykas at the recommendation of an aerobics instructor, and have not bought another brand of athletic shoes since! They're great! For some reason they are not very widely available, so it takes some hunting to find them.

I just pulled off my shoe, and I'm wearing size 6EE. I can totally sympathize with "duck feet"! Call a podiatrist's office and ask them what store they send their patients to. I admit that I got my shoe at a specialty shoe store and they were pricey, but I know that you can get this brand at a running shoe store, and as a matter of fact my podiatrist sent me to a regular running shoe store (I just got side-tracked on the way). The brand I'm using is Brooks, which comes highly recommended, though they're a bit lacking in excitement (all white, all the time). My massage therapist has very large feet--her feet are larger and wider than my husband's--and she swears by New Balance. I also love my Birks, but apparently all of the arch supports in my old, used birkenstocks are too broken down for my crazy high arches.

Another duck foot here! :sad2: I just bought a pair of crocs, they are great! :cool1: I have worn them a few days and my little toe is not sticking out! I also like the wide width New Balance! The Land's End Moc's are another one of my fav's. Myself, DD8, and DS6 all have extremely wide feet, we live in Land's End shoes. We are all trying our new crocs and the have been great!

Thanks to all of you who made suggestions. I think the problem is that most of the stores carry a wide width of "D" and that is not wide enough for me. I have tried on New Balance "wide" width and they were not wide enough, but I have a feeling they were probably a "D" width. I went on their web site and noticed that they do make EE and EEEE. Now I need to find a store that carries such wide widths.

Have any of you found E or greater widths in regular stores? Or are you going to specialty type stores? I'm going to try to get out on Sunday WITHOUT my 3 little ones so I have time to search and try on tons of shoes. Any suggestions as to what stores to try that might carry the really wide widths?

Thanks again for everyones help and suggestions! I've jotted down all of the brands mentioned to take on my quest this weekend!

My sister is either 7EE or 7EEE and has had trouble finding shoes that fit since she was very young. She currently is wearing Birkenstocks just about everywhere, but whenever she needed dress shoes or some other type of shoe, she went to Nordstrom because they carry wide widths, or would order them if they didn't have them on hand.

There are a few websites that seem to have wide widths, but if it's a new brand/style to you, you probably want to try the shoe on first. But for buying a new pair of a brand/style you already know, it could make it much easier for a busy mom to shop!

I will second the feelings about Lady Footlocker. She's the one who told me to try on every brand, which was how I found Ryka. They know what they're talking about and should be able to help guide you as you try different things on.

New balance has a website you can go to and youcna look up for area stores. They are expensive but they will map your foot to check out your arch and will find you the right size. For years my nana had been wearing wides but they just weren't roomy enough we checked out the new balance store turns out she wears a 7 EE !!!!! Asics are another good one when you can find them in wides. Good luck.

First off--might I suggest going a half size bigger.

no shoe should ever have to be "worn" to fit nicely.

I learned this with running--tried on many many shoes....and they have me go one size larger so that I have room in the toe box.

Basically feet swell and they need room to go--and i wasn't giving them that.

I also where a wide shoe as well.

I have had good luck with old navy flip flops, skechers flip flops, and clarks.

My current running shoe is a saucony 11 wide (the hurricane stabilizer shoe).

I wear size 10.

I tried on the crocs at Dillards the other day. I must say--I felt like I was wearing a styrofoam lunch tray.

For dress shoes I wear UNLISTED strappy heels--they do not have a narrow toe area.

For sneakers--you may consider trying a men's shoe--they were out of stock in my width and had me try the men's width (They go wider)....but alas--I guess i do not have duck feet.

However--I do sympathize--I leave duck prints on pool pavement b/c my feet are soo flat and I overpronate--so I am susceptible to foot issues just like you. I will never understand those who wear shoes that look good but hurt their feet.
