DS who is 10 rode this ride once when he was about 7. He wants to go on it again but he said that the Twilight Zone show on TV (the show in the room right before you go on the ride) gave him nightmares and that he doesn't want to watch it again. Just wondering if there was a way to skip it since he does want to go on the ride itself. Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to ask.

No, there's no separate entrance, you have to go through the room to get to the boiler room.

I would suggest he just close his eyes or look at the stuff on the shelves/walls. I usually do that simply because I've seen the film maybe 50 times since the attraction opened! In fact, I can recite the narration!;)

I like the idea of him closing his eyes. Or holding your hand.

Another idea is maybe showing him the pre show at home on youtube. That way it isn't quite as scary since he is at home. Kind of like desensitizing him to it. I am taking my 8 year old for first time next month and am kind of worried about her too. She usually likes scary things, but scary rides, she gets a little nervous. And Disney totally immerses you in the moment!

Good luck!

I have the solution. Since I actually narrated the pre show video in Tower of Terror, why don't I just come over with a bag of donuts and I will sit down and do the whole pre show LIVE in a VERY gentile soothing voice, sort of like Mr. Rogers. It will make your son feel very relaxed and at ease with it all so the next time he visits the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror he can relax!

This is creepy! Hopefully this was meant to be funny? :confused3

My suggestion is some ear buds & iPod/iPhone to listen to & look at while pre shows on.

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully one of these will work as the rest of us love the ride and it would be fun for us all to go on together :thumbsup2

Hi - the last time we went in 2012 my DD was 8 and the pre show scared her. I asked and they let us skip it. They just had us go right out with the group that had just watched it. Just ask real nice and explain that he is scared of that part. Good luck! Let me know if it works we are going back this Aug she wo t get on it if she has to watch that part.

Hahahaha, a guy with one post on DIS comments on this and it turns out, that he is the voice of the preshow... This is epic!!!! :rotfl2:

You also see the opening of the Twilight Zone show right before the ride starts which is unskippable, due to actually being in the ride itself.

That was three years ago. Kids grow up a lot in three years. We couldn't go on many attractions with my granddaughter at her early age of five. Took her back at the age of seven and she ran onto everything she missed earlier.

I would suggest your son look at youtube and then judge for himself. Age 10 is old enough to figure out himself what he wants to do. He might even laugh at his earlier inclinations (not likely). But, if you do decide to ask for an opt-out, I'd have him do it. Then it would be his choice and his decision.
