Is it possible to skip the first boring part of the back lot tour and just ride the tram?

:smooth:

I have wondered the same thing before, but never actually asked.

Technically you could. When they let you into the water tank portion, you could sneak out with the crowd that just saw the show. But in terms of legitally skipping it, nope!

That's too bad. The whole thing is worth doing the first time but I don't want to do the whole thing again. I agree that I would like to do the tram thing again though. I have only done this tour once and there was a lot of waiting. We had to wait about 25-30 minutes for the tram. Is this normal? IMO, this attraction is too large of a time commitment to repeat each trip.

I love that you mention the "legality" of skipping part of an attraction. It reminds me of the time we ran into the Walt Disney Museum exhibit at MGM because a rainstorm had just started. My wife fretted that we might get in trouble if we tried to leave through the "enter only" door, so we waited for the movie in progress to end so we could exit by following the crowd that was leaving out the exit doors. Then she was worried that we would get in trouble if we didn't sit down and watch the movie. I said, "Forget it" and walked out, and she reluctantly followed.

Later, she read the guidemap that said the movie was 30 minutes long, and she thanked me profusely for saving her from it!

I say WDW is not school and it's not prison. You're supposed to have fun! If you can skip part of an attraction without causing a safety hazard, disrupting other people, or cutting in line, go for it! Even if you walk out through an "In" door, I doubt you'll be arrested, prosecuted, or sued!

The only issue regarding leaving with the previous crowd might be capacity. If the attraction is near peak attendance then you might find yourself or someone 'legitatmately' in the proper group without room on the tram. Normally that should not be an issue.

If you think the first part is boring...you could volunteer to be in the show and that would liven things up a bit! My mom and I were in the special effects show last year and it was a blast!
