Question... If two families - both DVC members - want to vacation together and reserve a Grand Villa - how would it work? Could you both be on the reservation and contribute your share of points to the reservation - or would one party have to transfer the points to the other party so that the points all came out of one "account?"

You could transfer the points or have one party book a few days and the other party book the other days and link them

You would have to switch days.. IE if for 6 days 1st 3 with 1 party and second 3 with other party. 2 seperate reservations. You can ask to keep same room, no garen.

Other option would be have 1 party transfer points into other parties account and reserve with that persons points.

It is so easy to transfer to another member that would be the easiest way. One reservation all together.Just remember banked points can't be transferred so if one of you has banked points they should be the one having the points transferred to.If you both have banked points to use than just link your reservations together. :lovestruc

If member #2 transfers points to member #1 to make the reservation, make sure the points are all for the same resort. Otherwise, the point will be moot. You need to have all the same home resort to make that reservation at 11 months out to get the GV.

But the real problem may be - who gets the master bedroom?

If possible I would go with the transfer of points from one member to the other. This way you can reserve a full 7 days at the 11 month window. In fact, my son and I are in the process of doing that now. He is transferring his points to me so that I can make a reservation for 7 days from the 11 month window.

If you both plan on making separate reservations then the first person would reserve their 3-to-4 days and the second person would have to wait until the 11 month window became available 3-to-4 days later. Then you can have member services link the two reservations together. We've done this before and have never had to change rooms.

Transferred points retain their original Resort and Use Year. So if you transfer BWV points to a member with Vero points, you cannot reserve using all at the 11 month window. You will still have to wait for the 7 month window.

Reservations between two different members can be linked so that the parties would not have to risk changing rooms. All the names in the reservations need to be in the same order and exactly the same but it is a valid option.

Transferring is the other.
