Okay now that I've changed all my ps to eat here partly on the assumption I can watch the parade, I re-read the trip report that inspired me and realize this family watched the parade first and THEN ate at the Vineyard Room. I planned to get there early to up our chances of a seat along the ledge but still wanted to know if anybody has done this and whether the viewing is okay or do people stand outside the restaurant in front of you? Maybe I should also make our PS for after. How long is the parade?

Well, I think the ledge you're thinking of is actually part of the Trattoria (which didn't remind ME of Olive Garden, but I've only had their Caprese sandwich, which they don't serve at Olive Garden, LOL). I believe the Vineyard Room is on the second level, so you've got a balcony, I believe, which is much further back on the "property" than the outdoor seating of the Trattoria.

More explanation.

The "road" is below the outdoor seating area for the Trattoria. To get to the trat you have to go up steps. Then the vineyard room, I believe, is upstairs and back from that.

So even if people are standing on the street, they won't impact your view from the outdoor seating at the Trattoria (if you're right at the ledge or wall).

So, do you think it is too far back to view the parade? Trying to kill two birds with one stone if possible.

Not too far back. But as not to impose on others eating there, you should tell the host/hostess when you check in that you are planning on watching the parade and want to sit by the balcony. They'll do their best when possible.

My hubby & I did this for our anniversary. The Vineyard room is amazing (i actually liked it more than napa rose)! Keep in mind that this is a nicer eating establishment, but still in the park so they understand. We have actually eaten at both the Vineyard Room and Wine Trattoria and like the former (VR) for seeing the parade while eating.

Something else to note is that the balcony at the VR is a bit high. I could see over it (I'm 5'3"), but children would likely need to be held.

Good info. :thumbsup2

If booking a reservation.....how many minutes before the parade should one book for (if you had a choice). Thanks!

We did right at 5 for each, but the parade didn't start until 5:15 and didn't get to the restaurant area until 5:30ish. The reason we booked for 5 was that we could check in and wouldn't mind waiting for the balcony request.

My boys are 7 and 11 so hopefully they will be tall enough to see over or maybe sit on their knees?

Does ELP also go by this location? Maybe we will re-book Wine Country for Monday. I had planned on a light dinner since we will have BB for lunch but sounds like there are lighter options? Was the caprese sandwich available for dinner?

Really just depends on how tall they are and if you get a balcony seat.

Yes, the ELP does go by the Wine Trattoria. I had the caprese sandwich when we had dinner there.

Great idea! I admit I was getting a little worried about eating at full service restaurants and missing out on time spent on park entertainment. Now I think I'll do this in September.

Now another question: which do you think has a BETTER parade view, Vineyard or Trattoria?

Trattoria has a better view IF you can get a table towards the front of the restaurant. If you get one near the back, there's trees in the way.

Thanks. We'll get there early and try to get a good spot. I do like the fact that it is cheaper too. ;)
