We are coming mid May from the East Coast. We arrive on Saturday afternoon and plan to spend a few hours in DTD and will have no problem being up for the park Sunday morning. I doubt we'll be in the park for fireworks Sunday night, though (I'm sure my girls won't be adjusted to the 3 hour time difference, yet).

Can you see the fireworks from the Desert Inn?

In many of the rooms you can see from your window. Of course, you cannot hear all the music and commentary. However, it worked great for us many years because my DD did not like the noise when she was younger.

Also, you can go up on the roof to view them. Much better choice than trying to huddle everyone around the small windows. There were only a few chairs last time we went so probably you would have to stand. Most everyone does anyway because they are generally all standing to the side closest to the park.

Either way is not bad if you cannot be in the park.

Yes, but I don't recommend it. The fireworks in the sky are actually only half of the show. The audio and other effects in the park is the other half. If your DDs are tired, take a midday break. Just go back to the hotel and take a short nap during the middle of the day. Then hopefully they will have a little more energy to last until 9:25.

The first time I saw the fireworks it was from my room in the hotel here. It is SO much better when you are there watching it.

I plan to try this, but at WDW they refused to nap, so I don't want to hang my hopes on it.

YES! We are in room 517...which happens to be right under the viewing area. we watched from the window and from the viewing deck.

but then, tonight right in front of the castle was soooo much better ;)
