Can you say hurricane?

Or, more accurately, tropical storm? Apparently there is one headed across Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rains are expected to the north and east of the storm over the weekend. OH NO!!! Dsis and her 2 girls go to WDW on 6/10, being joined by my BIL and his brother (who has Down's, this is his 1st trip to WDW since his mom passed away 5 yrs ago) on 6/12-6/15. I sure hope it doesn't storm heavily on them...or on us, we arrive 6/15 for seven nights. I feel sooooo bad for the Florida folk! Last year was such a terrible hurricane season, and this one is starting so early!

The last I saw, they are tracking it to go in over Mississippi and Alabama and up from there. It doesn't look like it's going to go over Florida at all.

Here we go again right fellow Floridians?

Last update I saw (and yes...we are all starting to get nervous ticks here), is it is headed towards the Florida / Bama line. However, the heaviest rain always goes to the East of the formation (don't know why, but that is what Mr. Steve Lyons of the Weather Channel says), so even though the panhandle is taking the direct hit (we owe you guys anyway...we only took Ivan last year, you guys handled the rest), the Florida peninsula should get the more severe rain/ flooding.

It's not a good sign for us that we're already taking a direct hit on "A"....last year we at least got to "I". I've got a bad feeling about this year....

Good luck on all of your trips. I'd rather be at WDW in the rain then here in the sunshine. :umbrella: (I am getting so corny..someone stop me please).

Mel

I must admit, it's my fault...
I'm leaving at 4:20 today, so I expect that's when the hurricane will hit land ...

Last year when we were in Daytona, we had to wait out Charley, and this year the first Tropical *whatever it may be when I get there* decides to hit the weekend I leave for Disney World...

But really, last I saw (and I checked it every 15 minutes yesterday, and will probably do the same today), it was going to head through the coast of Alabama, and it will only cause bad weather for central FL possibly tonight and Saturday...

It's not a hurricane, it's a tropical storm... Winds are much less than that of a hurricane at this time!

Hello all!
I'm a meteorologist...and it's my fault...lol. I'm headed down today! Arlene does not look to become a hurricane...and it will make landfall in MS/W. AL. Rain from the system will be hugging the FL Pen...and rain will spread inland Sat and thinning out Sun Aft. But no major impacts!!!

My DN 5th birthday is saturday first pool party thats a major impacts she lives in biloxi MS. :sad2: :sad2: :umbrella: but we are thankful it doesn't look like it will getting to strong

We (West coast) have been getting the rain since yesterday from this TS. They are saying Rain and wind thru Sat. Better on Sun. Not sure if the rain will extend into Central Florida.

Very funny, PopDaddy, I see you *can* say hurricane! And Melody Mack, don't worry about being corny...this is the place to do it, and all those who remember the long-running thread about canned corn at WDW will agree!

This time of year I expect an afternoon thunder storm in FL. This looks like it will be a bit more than that, but hopefully not for very long. I just hate to see FL get hit again, so early, with the 1st storm of the year.

SW FL has been non stop rain for a week already. We are getting slammed with heavy rain right now. If this keeps up I will need a boat to get across town!

Saturday's rain was awesome at MK. It kept everyone away! We got on so many attractions without any lines!

Even though the weather called for storms every day last week, it didn't rain Tuesday or Wednesday & was only on & off Thursday afternoon. Friday just had a little shower and Saturday had a short shower around 1 and then when we were on our way to the train station at 3:30. When we watched the radar pictures at night it looked like the storms had just gone around WDW. LOL! I guess the mouse has a little bubble over his domain? ;)
