Hubby and I are considering a 7-Day Eastern cruise in early '04. Anyone know if we'd save much by booking now? Also think a category 7 is the way for us to go? Would appreciate any suggestions on quiet areas to request cabin location? Also hoping for the least "rocky" part of the ship. Thanks.

Rule of thumb-
Less motion is felt the lower you are to the water and the more mid-ship that you are. I have not stayed in a Navigators Verandah, CAT 7, but I know it is at the AFT of the ship or at the rear. We had a Cat 5 last cruise and are in a Cat 9 this November. When we cruised last September, I was worried about sea sickness for myself and my daughter. I only noticed the movement the first evening at while eating in Parrot Cay. It wasn't enough to make me feel nauseous, But, I definately felt it. :)

As far as the prices go, the earlier you book the more you will save. Go into the DCL website and play with the prices and dates. If you are going to sail ie; January of 2004 then put in the dates for January 2003. You should see a difference. They often have winter rates in January and February as well, so you would be able to get the price adjusted if it is lower then.

You would save by booking as early as possible, as early booking are the only discounts offered anymore. Cat 7 is my favorite! If you choose Cat 7 you have to stay aft, all 7's are aft. We stayed on deck 5 in May and have booked 5 again for next year. We try to get the first 7 available on deck 5 - this year had 5132 and next year have 5632. The lower the deck and more toward center = less movement.

You can't go wrong with Deck 5, Cat 7!!!

There are 4 former category 5 and 6 rooms that have been reclassified as a category 7. If you want the enclosed feeling of the navigator style, avoid these. but, if you really wanted a plexiglass verandah, but the price was too much to justify, these would be great. The have a metal beam that curves and obstructs the side a little bit. They were just reclassifed in the last week or 2.

Book early early early. My trip has gone up over $1600 since I booked it 17 months ago!

Definitely book early... I booked this past June for December 03 and saved $2200 over the brochure price!!!

PUG DOG.....we were just in cabin 5132 on the Wonder and loved it.

We rebooked on the ship(which I said I'd never do)...the $200 shipboard credit was too much for me to pass up and we supposedly(sp?) saved $2000. This is for a Cat 10, secret porthole cabin.

MRSLTG....when in December 2003 are you cruising...ours is
Dec. 13???????????

The earlier the better I'd say.

I'm waiting to hear back from DU, have asked for Deck 5, Category 7! I think the enclosed verandah is perfect for us. Now I have to patiently wait the 16+ months. I'm really excited. Gary has never cruised and I've never Disney-cruised so this is a real treat for us both. I appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

We booked our catagory 7, deck 7 stateroom for February 2003 in September of 2001. I keep checking back online, and so far it has gone up $700.00 for the same room. I just in August booked the same room for February of 2004 and it is only $50.00 more than the original price of the 2003 cruise. I'm sure by 2004 it will go up alot more!

We love the navigators verandas!
