Can you reserve multiple villas for the same time period?

I am considering becoming a DVC owner and would like to know if I can reserve two 2 bedroom villas for the same time period. It looks to me like it would require fewer points to reserve two 2 bedroom villas vs. one grand villa. Any help would be very much appreciated.

As long as you have the points available you can book as many rooms as you like.

I do this all the time with 4 to 5 studios at BWV

I don't think you need to have different addresses and phone numbers, but you definitely need different names. It's because Disney really wants to know who's staying there, not just who's "paying" (cash or points). And you can't physically be in both places, so you need to put the name of the person who is staying there on the ressie, whether family, friend, or renter. (It can be changed later.) Everyone in the room, including the kids, gets a key with his or her own name on it, for entry to extra magic hours and such.

I'm just guessing you could also use the same name. I can't imagine why they would care, as long as it is the person that checks in.

We have concurrent reservations for a studio and a two bedroom at AKV in December. The CM would not let me use my name on both reservations. He insisted on having another name on the second reservation. Ultimately I had to provide the names of all of the people staying in each unit.

I recently saw a DVC promo that a family reserved 35 studios for one night for their daughters wedding. That must of been a really long phone call to MS to add all of those names and addresses on the 35 villas. I was surprised to realize at OKW or AKV during adventure season that wouldn't be as many points as it sounds.

When we plan a family gathering, we too just cannot justify reserving a GV when it costs less for two 2BRs. Or for that matter, sometimes the GV takes so many points that we just don't have the points without renting or buying more.

I keep telling myself that's okay because then there will be more privacy for the families.

for the last 5 yrs when I book 3 to 5 rooms they wanted at least one name (different on each room) and an address and phone #. Maybe I just got all the CM's that do this. I keep a list of family with addresses and phone # just for this purpose weather they are going or not. I can always changed the names.

I noticed a change that the CM's ask for the names now when making the reservations but only ask for the address when the guest is using ME and the tags need to be mailed out.

That makes more sense! I always thought it was crazy to give out the addreses for everyone when they were not using ME!

Just remember that availability can be tight at certain times for certain resorts - and when you are trying to book multiple rooms, that can create problems. Book home at 11 months, then move your reservation at seven months - particularly if you are going at a 'busy DVC time' and/or the resort you want is one that books quicker.

On a similar note, has anyone here ever book an overlap day when changing rooms/resorts? I'm planning a two-family 4 night stay in Sept. 2011 in a 2 BR (or hopefully a THV!) and on the 4th night the other couple we're traveling with will stay there but DW & I want to switch to a BLT studio for it and 2 more nights (3 total in studio). I want the overlap for us so we aren't "homeless" between 11 AM checkout of the first room and 4 PM in the studio...

Sept. 10-12th - 4 people in 2 BR

Sept. 13th: other couple still in 2 BR; us in 2 BR for most of the day but moving to studio that night (so technically we'll be in both as far as ressies go!)

Sept. 14th-15th: Only the studio for us

Think that'll be OK? I intend to book 6 nights in the BLT studio @ 11 months out, then @ 7 months try and change that to keep only the last 3 nights and book the first 4 in a THV or if not available waitlist that and grab a 2 BR @ OKW. The other couple might not be ready to commit @ 11 months, and I want to try a non-home resort with them so that's why I'm planning the two separate booking times...
