Can You Request a View at BCV?

We are new owners at the Boardwalk. We were going to stay there in April, but our waitlist for Beach Club came through!

I spoke to a CM at DVC about requesting a view and she told me that they are no longer taking any requests for views what-so-ever.

Is this true or did I just get the wrong person on the line? She wouldn't even let me make a floor request. I thought this was odd.

Any advice? If it is possible to request a view, I would like some advice on what usually works out best.

Thanks!

We've heard on other threads that a request for view was being declined at BCV. It doesn't matter to us, because all we care about is getting into a non-smoking unit. I think all the views are fine at BCV. Plus, you're so close to Epcot and with the great pool at BCV, who stays in the room anyway!

All the views are fine at BCV, but very few of them are particularly good. You go to BCV for other things: the barefoot ambiance, SAB, the short walk to Epcot. (Something similar is true, by the way, of VWL--a beautiful and atmospheric resort where the view from most of the villas is nothing special.)

I thought the only thing that was being denied was an Epcot view. I didn't realize they weren't taking any requests at all!

We made Reservations in Jan for a Dec trip, and made our normal requests "N/S, top floor, Epcot view" in that order. If DVC tells me I can't make requests when I make my next reservation I'll email and call everyone I can to complain. I could not enjoy my ownership as much if I couldn't make requests, even knowing they're not guaranteed. It doesn't make any sense for me to be stuck ground floor quiet pool view, which I'd hate, and someone else being top floor Epcot view when they wanted ground floor quiet pool. I don't see any logistic problems with noting requests on reservations and assigning inventory as needed. I still think that earlier reservations should have higher priority on requests. Being able to make requests such as these was one of the reasons we bought DVC in the first place.

I wonder if they are getting ready to do some major renovations on the BCV rooms (since they are at 100% occupancy all the time, they need it!) and trying to keep views in the mix will make it harder to keep people happy as they move people about to keep the renovations going. If they can get the N/S and S issue covered, that would be more help than spending energy on the view during a time when it will be stressful for the staff. ....just my idea of what they may be priming the pump for...

I requested an Epcot view for the trip we took earlier this month & had no problem.
No more requests must be something new that they're doing :confused3

At the risk of forever ticking off smokers...why can't Disney Resorts go to ALL non smoking rooms and just provide 'smoking' areas like they do at the parks?
So many smokers that I know are so polite that they never even ask if they can smoke in my home or car...they just go outside to smoke, even at 10000 feet in snowy wintery Colorado. I thought it was just becomming the 'norm'...like not wearing shoes inside a home or rental in Hawaii.

Sure would solve lots of smoke-related problems, tho I guess the smokers who owned DVC would be outraged, and probably rightfully so, since they bought before it was a policy. Oh well, a girl can dream can't she?

I agree with you totally. A request is not a guarantee, and why not make the guest happy if possible? The earlier the ressie is made, the better chance the request is filled, plain and simple. :cool1: Bob
