Can you rent mobile phones in Orlando

I've done a search and not found anything, but was sure I'd read something ages ago about the possibilty of hiring mobile phones.

We want to be able to communicate further than walkie-talkies would allow but obviously dont want to put out a lot of money for a phone that would only be used during our trip.

If we cant hire, can we buy a phone and just use it when we're there without it being a great expense (we go every year).

We bought a couple of Virgin Mobil tri band phones. They were really cheap, it cost us £19.99 each with a £10 credit included. We didn't use them to make phone call as this would work out expensive, but used the text facility instead at 25p a time.

Walmart had some pay as you go mobiles on an American network for approx $50 and it included some call time!!! The hansets were ok they were nokia!!

We rented from the UK before we went about 3 years ago and it cost us £200! Absolutely ridiculous when you can buy one from Target or Walmart for next to nothing.
We take our own tri-bands over now and just use them to text as calls are charged at a roaming rate.
