Can you recognize the year and make of a car when you see one on the road?

I can't get any years and can only recogize a few. Mostly sport cars, caddys, and Lincolns, and then I don't know the year-just the car. But that is about it. Our son in law loves to get old cars running again and our DD is always helping him. I can be with her in the car going somewhere and when we meet a car she can identify it and tell me what year it is. I don't see how she does it. I know lights, etc. change, but I could never remember what is what. Can anyone else do this easily?

I'm lucky if I get the make right. :p

I can get the make if a relative or friend or myself has driven that type of vehicle before. That's about it.

I'm am horribly bad at identifying cars. I have to memorize my license plate number so that I can find my own car in the parking lot.

My Dad can do that and my daughter's boyfriend is pretty good about it as well.

Oh,

for some reason, I have a real easy time identifying the make and year of cars.

EXCEPT for two summers ago, when we went to Disney and got this grey rental car that looked like all the other grey rental cars, LOL. I could never find the dang thing easily in a lot.

This is something I have always found easy to do, but I couldnt tell you a darn thing about the engine....My husband is jealous because when we see a neat car I can identify it before him.

I can usually identify the oler cars (60's and earlier) but that's cause they don't all look alike lol I can usually identify the make and the model but have a hard time with the year. The hubby is really good at that.
My 4 yr old nephew AMAZES me. He can even identify the new cars!

I can easily identify older cars. My ex and I had a '72 Camero and went to many car shows. I love older cars...my dream car is a '67 Caddie. Only problem is...Idon't think I would be able to see over the dash  or reach the gas and brake petals :p

Yep I can.. it all depends on the type of car..

Mustangs I can tell. Between my DH and I we have had four of them

I think it is harder these days but I love to watch an old TV with my Dad. He can tell what year the show was on from the year the car was. We'll watch Andy Griffith or some show like that & he'll say "there is a 57 Ford."

Buck-- My dad is like that as well... he knows all the later model cars...

Not anymore. If a car is more than 20 years old I can:D I often think that if I witnessed a crime and the getaway car was fairly new I would be no help at all!

Since most cars today look basically the same (in an effort to maximize mileage/minimize wind resistance, and there really is only one most efficient style for that), not really. But pre-'80, absolutely.

I can honestly say, that I can tell a car from a truck or a mini van. That's it. :teeth:

Older cars easily.........ones from the 90's and forward not as much. I especially have trouble with SUV's.

My first car was a '65 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.....I could fit 10 kids in that boat when I was in high school.
