Can you really carry a pack in the park?

I'm going with my husband and a friend in December (no kids). When we went a couple of years ago, I occasionally got frustrated trying to put the few things I needed every day in my pockets (and even then, I broke my sunglasses when they were in the pockets once). I see lots of people mentioning bringing a small backpack with them. Are there any rides you can't carry those on?

Thanks!
Jess

backpacks can go on all rides as long as you can store them safely.
When I travel w/o kids I bring a small drawstring back pack.

Yes, I've always taken a pack into the park.

I always take a backpack. You can even wear it on Rock'n Rollercoaster. Just wear it with the pack in the front rather than the back so the shoulder harness can safely go down. Obviously, the pack shouldn't be too big. There were no rides I did not wear mine on. Acutally...Kali River Rapids you can't wear it but they have a thing in the middle you can put it on. Just a tip....try to have it waterproof in the case of rain. You don't want the contents to get soaked.

Back Pack Fanny Pack or Cargo Pants...have done all these. My fav is cargo pants but if the weather is iffy..like cool in the mornings and nights, I ususally take a back pack.

I always have a small backpack with me in the parks. I take it everywhere with me. It has a handle on top--I put it down by my feet and hold on to it for all of the rides, including coasters like Expedition Everest, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, and Space Mountain.

Note that if you go over to Universal, they will make you stow backpacks in a locker. While WDW generally only has lockers at the entrances, Universal has lockers all over the place, especially next to the big rides.

So you HAVE to put your back pack in a locker to ride the rides at Universal? Do you get charged EACH time? SCAM!!!!

I know any loose item (inlcuding even small cross body bags) MUST go in a locker at Men in Black, Mummy, and Forbidden Journey (and probably the bigger coasters, but I didn't ride them, so don't know for sure). Those rides that require a locker they have lockers for free right outside each ride. They are only for a certain time though, so don't try to go through the line twice without moving your bag to another locker. After a certain time (dependent on the wait time for that ride at that time) then you'll be charged. Last May I carried a small Vera Bradely mini hipster over there and was surprised that they stopped me and told me it had to be in a locker. We thought we had time to ride Men in Black twice in row, but found when we got out that we had to pay $3.00 to get our bags.:rotfl: Where we really needed a locker were the water rides, (which don't require them, so they aren't free).:confused3? Even though I had waterproofed my bag before we left, it got soaked. Be sure to carry zip locks to put your camera and phone in.

I've used a small (tiny!) backpack when it was just DH & I in 2001, then a regular daypack in 2008 (but with a potty trained 3 year old and an 18 month old in diapers), and this year I'll be using a Sherpani XO backpack. It's small-medium sized and will hold everything I need, esp. now that my kids are potty trained and won't be needing as much "stuff".

I've never had problems with backpacks in the park. I prefer to be hands free. Many people love the VB mini-hipsters and there is a brand called Haiku that has a small bag similar to the hipster. And there are the Overland Equipment small bags and Baggalinis as well. You just need to find one that is comfortable for you.

There is a great thread called "What bag do you carry into the park" and you'l see lots of pictures of big and small options.

I love carrying my little VB backpack so I am hands free! All bags do get searched upon entering the park... but it is so quick and easy to get through the security line and I have never had a problem with it.

We carry the see through backpack which makes for very fast progress through the inspection lines. They have even thanked us there for having them. Most of the time they do not even unzipped them.

We traveled light this trip - I only carried a Baggallini Wallet Bagg (large size.) It was AWESOME. Enough space for a variety of items, including multiple sunglasses, cell phones, and first-aid items, yet compact and worn cross-body, so I was hands-free. I used to carry the larger Baggallini, but now that DS3 is potty-trained, I don't have to carry as much stuff. Can't recommend the Wallet Bagg enough.

I can't wait for the day I carry only my KTTW.

I packed zip locks last time and put anything that couldn't get wet or I didn't want to get wet in ziplocks and stored them in the back pack...worked great!!

Add me to the backpack carriers, could not have survived the trip with out it!

we always carry a small backpack with us whenever we go and to all the parks. i have never had an issue with it on any of the rides. I would not bring in a large backpack just something big enough to care the items you want to bring with you. remember that you will have it with you the entire time so as long as you are ok with it will not be a problem.

If the pack is too big, a CM will store if for you will you get off the ride. :)
