Day 8--Monday, December 5, 2005
I woke up this day with my typical "I don't want to go home" blues. Many of my friends had one night left on their trips, but I was heading home the day before everyone else, and it was starting to get depressing.
I stopped to drop off my carryon bags, and the cast member at bell services asked if I was the one who had trouble getting my bags the day before. She apologized repeatedly for the delay, and refused to take a tip when I dropped off my bags.
After grabbing some beingets at the food court, I headed to the bus stop to catch the bus to the Magic Kingdom. There must have been 70 people waiting at the bus stop. Rather than fight to get on the bus with everyone else, I decided to wait for the next one, which came just a few minutes later.
Once through the gates of the Magic Kingdom, I went on Splash and Thunder Mountains. I also stopped at VMK Central and made a couple of characters so I could get some black ears.
I then headed over to Epcot, where I met up with Kaycee. We were going to get fast passes for Soarin', but the return time was too late for me. I wound up picking up an extra fast pass for Kaycee so she could ride it a second time.
Kaycee and I headed over to the World Showcase so I could pick up some things for my sisters (my three sisters gave me quite the shopping list this trip). I then said Goodbye to Kaycee, and we went our seperate ways for lunch.
I headed over to Nine Dragons. I was pretty hungry, and knew I wouldn't eat for a long time because of my travel day, so I started off with a sweet and spice cucumber salad, which was excellent--chilled to the perfect temperature, and with a great flavor. I then had some pot stickers, which were as good as they were every other time I've had them. And for my entree, I had General Tso's Chicken which was even better than the plate I had earlier in the trip.
After lunch, I was able to get a quick ride in on Soarin'. I was going to try to catch Epcot Vybe, but they were already performing, so I just watched and listened to them from a distance.
I had about 40 minutes to get back to the Port Orleans French Quarter to catch Magical Express back to the airport.
I decided that I would walk to the Boardwalk, and take a cab to the French Quarter rather than taking the bus. It was a beautiful day for a walk, and it would give me the chance to look at Jellyrolls one last time on my trip.
When I made it back to the French Quarter, I got my carry on bags, and changed into my jeans in anticipation of the trip home to the North East. My plan arrived home in Boston about a half hour early, and boy was it a shock to the system to come home to temperatures in the 20's, and snow on the ground.
I want to be back in Florida!
