Day 5--Friday, December 2, 2005

I woke up early because this was the day I was most anticipating on the entire trip. It was the day of the big Jellyrolls meet, and I just couldn’t wait for it to begin! In about twelve hours, I would be sitting in my favorite place with 50 or so DIS folks. This was going to be the high point of my trip!

I went and grabbed something to eat at the Boardwalk Bakery, and brought it back to my room. I touched base with Kaycee, and we agreed we would meet on the road to the Studios. Kaycee had plans to meet up with friends from another website to ride the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. I decided that I would tag along.

When we met up with everyone at the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster, we all grabbed fast passes for it, and headed over to the Tower of Terror. We filled an entire elevator, and part of a second elevator. It sure was a lot of fun to ride with a big group like that.

We then went to ride on the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster, which was as fun as ever. We also had a group photo taken near the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster.

After the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster, Kaycee and I went over to ride the Great Movie Ride. We then decided to go out in search of food. We checked out the Studio Catering Co. (or whatever it was called), but that didn’t impress either of us, so we skipped it. We tried to get into Mama Melrose’s, but it would be an hour’s wait for a table, so we skipped it and went over to Pizza Planet. I got a Woody Meal Deal, which included a pepperoni pizza and a salad. Kaycee got the Junkyard Meal Deal, which included a vegetable pizza and a salad. The pizza was pretty good for Disney pizza, and I really enjoyed my salad.

After lunch, we went over to see the One Man’s Dream movie. I have seen this movie before, but I really enjoyed seeing it again.

After the movie, Kaycee and I headed out to walk back towards Epcot. We made a quick stop at my room, and then continued on to Epcot. We took a ride on Spaceship Earth, and then I said goodbye to Kaycee. I had plans to meet up with some DISers for dinner at Ohana, and I decided I’d do the monorail loop and check out the holiday displays before dinner.

First stop on my monorail loop was the Grand Floridian. I always enjoy looking at the gingerbread house there, and seeing the reaction of people when they realize that there is a store built inside.

I then continued on to the Contemporary to see what turned out to be my favorite holiday display--Pinocchio and Gepetto made out of chocolate. The display was incredible! I must have stood there soaking in every detail for 20 minutes.

I then headed over to the Polynesian to meet up with a group of DISers for dinner. Goofy4Tink, WebmasterKathy, KristaTX, KayTX, Towncrier, Magiroux, Iluvdisney, CrazyboutDisney, and DaveH would all be joining me for dinner at Ohana. WebmasterKathy was running a little late getting to dinner, and I think one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen was her walking towards us wearing her tiara, bouncing to her tunes on her iPod.

I had been wearing a pedometer for the entire trip, and while we were waiting to be seated, I realized that I was just a half mile away from hitting 50 miles! So I started to walk around the chairs (but no one would play duck duck goose with me), and walking back and forth so I could hit 50 while so many of my friends were there for the momentous occasion! I kept on having everyone check my mileage, and did hit the 50 mile mark before we ate. For some reason, no one else was impressed by my milestone.

When we were finally seated at our table, the entertainer was quickly entranced by our table. She said we were the most festive table in the entire restaurant and we sang songs along with her. Many of us had on fancy hats--I was wearing a crown that Iluvdisney had given me.

We all enjoyed our meal at Ohana. I must have eaten a dozen of the chicken wings, and I could have eaten the entire bowl of salad myself--I just love the lime vinegarette salad dressing. The potatoes were awesome, and the meats were all very good as well, although the steak was a bit fatty. The dessert of bread pudding with ice cream and bananas foster sauce was outstanding. We got seconds on that.

The entertainer asked if anyone in our group would like to volunteer to hold the limbo pole, so Goofy4Tink and I agreed to do it. We got to hold the shaka maracas too. I think Goofy4Tink was more excited about holding the limbo pole than I was, and she was so happy to see so many kids and many adults come to do the limbo. Goofy4Tink and I were giving containers of gummi worms for helping out!

Most of us participated in the hula and the adult coconut race. We all got at least one lei that night. We sure had a lot of fun at dinner. There were a lot of laughs, and a lot of fun shared by all of the good friends at the table.

After dinner, we headed over to Jellyrolls. IluvDisney drove Goofy4Tink, CrazyBoutDisney, WebmasterKathy, and I over to the Boardwalk for the meet. Kathy and I went right into Jellyrolls, where we met up with a few DIS folks who were already there. I sat at a table with Twotoohappy, Kaycee, and the JonesTavern family. There were far too many people there to list by name! It sure was a blast.

Michael and Tommy were the first pair of piano players that night. The bar was already hopping by the time they arrived. I presented each of them with a flashing piano pin, and a glittery turkey with a singing spoon pin to commemorate the event.

At 9:00, the best part of the evening began when my beloved Scotty took the stage with Jason. I presented each of them with the two pins, and also handed Scotty a wrapped gift. He was going to put it under the Christmas tree, but I told him he should open it, so after a little more discussion, he agreed that he would open it. He said, “I hope it’s a Yacht.” When he started opening it, he said, “It’s pink. I like it already.” He laughed when he saw the picture of himself wearing the tiara, and he put it on his piano.

Jason commented that he felt like he had to bow down to me every time he walked by me because I was wearing the crown. When I walked by him the first time, and he bowed, I walked back and forth a couple of times so he would continue to bow. He told me I was abusing my power, and I told him that was the American way.

At one point in the evening, Scotty was singing a high note, so WebmasterKathy walked over to give him the tiara again. He wasn’t going to put it on, but Jason grabbed it, and put it on his head. I handed the crown to Jason, and he put it on his head. We got some great pictures of the king and queen of Jellyrolls.

When Michael and Tommy were back on stage singing, “Hit the Road, Jack,” they were looking for someone to represent each side of the room for the singing contest. My table finagled my way up there but when I realized it would require me singing by myself, I jumped off stage and Stacy’sAFreak took my place. She did quite well.

When Jason and Scotty came out for their second set of the night, Scotty started singing a song. All of the sudden, Jason stands up, and sticks his hands down the back of his pants, and he pulls out the picture of Scotty wearing the tiara and puts it back on Scotty’s piano. I was howling. I had noticed that Scotty took the picture with him when he left the stage, but I never imagined Jason would hide it in his pants and bring it back out. It was the funniest thing.

Later in the evening, CrazyBoutDisney got onstage to celebrate her birthday with a chicken dance. I was also invited onstage, but I left the stage because I just don’t do the chicken dance.

We sure had a blast at Jellyrolls that night. There was a lot of singing, a lot of dancing, and a whole lot of fun. The piano players loved our group, and at the end of the night, those of us who were still there had our picture taken with Scotty and Jason.

maybe......hubby and I can make a night of it and visit this establishment......hahaha......thanks so much for your report........Sounds like you guys rocked the place....

Incredible memory you have there my friend!!!! I don't think I was so excited about actually holding the pole as I was to see so many want to limbo under it!! I can't wait to party with my DIS friends next year. Thanks for reliving the memories for me!!! It was such great fun. Great people.

Thanks for your detailed trip reports, Karen. I'm having a great time reliving much of my trip through your reports. The dinner party at O'hana was definately a highlight!

Hi Kay!!!!! I hope you had as much fun as I did. O'hana was terrific. The only problem is that I don't think I'll ever have as much fun there as I did that night with all you guys!!! I'm reliving through Karen also. She sure was great to hang with....I met a ton of new people and like she said...I rode ToT again, grabbing for those handles the whole time (Hi John ;). And I've gotten over my fear of Splash Mt now!!! What a great influence she is!!!

Hi Diane!!! It was great to meet you and spend time having fun with so many friends. You're right, it'll be hard to top the time we had at 'Ohana last Friday night. What good fun, good friends, and oh yeah, good food. I could use some of that bananas foster bread pudding right now! Thanks to Karen for planning that evening.

One of these days we gotta get you to Jellyrolls, Kay.

Hey Karen! It could happen someday. Like Diane says, You are fun to hang with!!

I've eaten at Ohana many times, but this was definitely the most festive evening I've ever spent there!

I'd love to share some of the photos... but they're not all exactly DIS-friendly! :earseek: :rotfl:

Hey!!! My mom has been posting :faint:.

I was a slacker and didn't get shots of everyone that night at Ohana, but here are few of the postable ones:

Thanks for another great trip report, Karen. I really appreciate your enthusiasm for Disney! I'm glad that you had a great trip to WDW after your not-so-great trip to Disneyland.

Like I said Krista.....Karen is a good influence on everyone!!! Even got 'Mom' posting. I think that Kay should be in attendance at JR'06, don't you??

And Kathy...are you a bit chilly today?? Looks like awful weather for you down there.

So Kathy, I guess this means that the recreated moment with the DIS balls can't be posted either, eh?

Not true, Karen. I was totally impressed at how far you had managed to walk in such a short time. In fact, next December, I'm thinking about WALKING to WDW instead of flying or driving. I'm not sure how long it would take, but all things considered, it might turn out to be the fastest way to WDW.

Kathy and Karen - What happens at Ohana STAYS at Ohana. Right???

And to everyone else. Don't forget.

Ohana means never having to say you're sorry. :rotfl2:

This is just so WRONG. It's 14 stinking degrees here. In TEXAS. It's colder here than it is up there in Yankee country. Bah, humbug. Sure hope my pool doesn't freeze. We don't drain or close them here like y'all do... I didn't even look to see if the pool fountain froze up. Hmmm... maybe we can ice skate on the pool tonight! Think that might work?

Lucky for you. :rotfl2:

Do you know what we call 14 degrees in NE Ohio???

A HEAT WAVE!!!

:cold: It's so cold here that right now inside at work I am wearing 12 articles of clothing counting my boots. And that is not counting the coat, hat and gloves I'd have on if I were to go outside. Brrrr. . .
