Is it possible to pre-cook eggs and serve them later?

Hard boiled you can. Is this for a party?????;)

This isn't for a pot luck is it?

I'm just thinking of the one time I brought a potato/egg salad to a potluck. I had made it the night before, and lo and behold when I pulled the aluminum foil the entire thing was BLACK. Why it was black I have no clue, but it was. If its for a potluck, I say refrain from precooking potatos or eggs. Then again, I'm not a big fan of either and rarely cook them.

How far in advanced do you want to precook them?

I think it would depend on the eggs. I have made scrambled eggs and reheated them for a brunch...they were fine. Not sure about others (other then hard boiled)

Scrambled you may be able to get away with, but fried! :crazy2: I'm thinking no!

I think they would probably be ok for a few hours, but I don't know about overnight or anything.
But with me, once they are cold, they are gone.

Scrambled tends to either get too dry or too watery when it's reheated. Same with fried. You can still eat it, but why would you????

Eww to day-old scrambled or fried eggs.

For years my mom has been taking her breakfast to work in the morning. Almost always eggs. Fried or scrambled. If doing fried just don't cook them the whole way...then nuke them for a few seconds to heat and finish cooking at the same time. I thought it was nasty when I found out but she swears they taste fresh as long as she doesn't over cook them the first time or nuke them too long the second time!

You can pre-cook hard boiled eggs and poached eggs, although I wouldn't hold poached eggs longer than 8-10 hours.

I sometimes make omelets in the afternoon and nuke them for breakfast the next morning about 12 hours later. When I first started doing this, I could not believe how good the result was.
I don't overcook in the pm, and when I warm them the next morning it's at 50% power for about two minutes.

When I make a quiche, it usually lasts a couple of days. Tastes fine reheated in the micro. Actually, the pie crust is what suffers....

Aren't scrambled eggs on an airline cooked and then reheated? If so, that answers your question.... :crazy2:
