Can you please explain the new CS seating system?

I have been reading about it here and there, but I want an "official" explanation for how they are seating CS guests now. We were one of those families; I would get the table and sit down with the kids while DH would go get the food (or vice versa). Am I correct in thinking that we won't be able to do that anymore? What's the best way to do it, then? I don't want to stand in line with hungry, squirmy 2.5 and 4.5 year olds while trying to balance a tray of food and drinks. But I do appreciate the idea of not having to fight for a table when it comes time to sit down.

There really is no "new CS seating system". What you are referring to is a system that has been used in the past couple of years only at certain large CS restaurants and only on a day to day basis if they think the crowds warrant it. The BEST way to get what you want, besides visiting at the slower times of year and selecting smaller restaurants, is to eat at times when everyone else is not also trying to eat, but don't know if you will be able to do that with small children.

Simply put, cast members will be present at the large restaurants like Cosmic Rays, will admit you to seating only when you have your food, and then will escort you to a table. But this policy is put into effect only during the busiest times.

We're going to be there mid-June so I have a feeling we will encounter this. I'm not trying to get around the system, just want to be aware and prepared.

We were there last year during the week of Memorial Day and they were doing the new seating system at Pecos Bill's and at Pinocchio's Village Haus. My husband and son told me what they wanted and stood off to the side to wait. I saw no reason for them to stand in line with me because it just made for more line congestion. I met them after I got our food and then we went to the castmember who found a table for us.

It actually worked as well (if not better) than the times when my husband and son would get a table while I stood in line (or vice versa).

We have encountered this twice - both times in June and both times at Pecos Bill. Last June, at Cosmic Ray's there were CM's posted at the doors so that everyone had to go in through the main doors but once you got inside it was still a seating free-for-all:confused3

We were there last June and didn't encouter this at all. We were there from the 13th - 21st so about the same time you are going. We ate at some pretty crowded places and had no problem letting one of us go get a table with the kids while the other got food. With 4 kids in tow it would be a nightmare to stand in some of those lines, especially at places that the ordering que gets quite full with just a couple people from each party waiting. I remember a crush of ppl @ Pizza Planet one day, and thought to myself how much worse it would be if everyone had to wait in that line together. I mostly saw 1 person ordering for a family.

I can say that they weren't doing it at Columbia Harbor House last week (one of the busiest weeks of the year), but we did not stop in either Cosmic Ray's or Pecos Bill's.

We were there last year beginning the Friday before Memorial Day and we only encountered it at Pecos Bill's. It worked well for us!!
