On the Magic specifically, but interested in whether you can do so on the other ships too?

If not from Room Service, can you do so in the MDRs?

Yes, you can order them from room service.

Yes, you can order them in the dining room.

On all the ships.

You can order a uncrustable from room service. Don't know if you can order a regular peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Are there any other great things you recommend ordering from Room Service (or the MDRs) to take with you for port excursions? We have a couple of kiddos that snack pretty much non-stop!! :rolleyes1

In most ports you are only allowed (food-wise) pre-packaged, commercially wrapped food to be taken off the ship. I'd suggest packing some granola bars, cracker snacks if you think you're going to need them onshore.

Ooooh, good to know. I would have totally blown it and thrown an apple or orange in my day pack probably.

Thanks again!!

They can give you a big fine if caught taking fruit off the ship. Not worth it.

They"ll have signs on the ship next to the exits letting you know what is prohibited.

We ordered pbj for my son one night in the mdr. Dining team made it sound like a major hassle, and it took almost an hour. I suspect this was another example of our less-than-excellent dining team in action as others report it not being an issue.

If I remember correctly, there is peanut butter and jellys in little individual servings at the buffet (like to put on a bagel or toast)...

We have a kiddo with food allergies and eating in foreign ports is just terrifying, so our carry off snacks were (all carried on to the ship) individual packages of popcorn from Trader Joes, individual servings of potato chips (and FWIW, we never saw anything other than potato chips on the ship..and they were in a large community bowl), also individual servings of Oreos, pretzels, cheese its, peanut butter ritz sandwiches and also tuna kits...we also packed bottles sodas and waters and bottled juices.

Do keep in mind that you can not take opened food off the ship OR back to the ship, so what is not finished in port, becomes trash unless it was unopened.

We also take a couple individual cereals from Cabanas if going on long excursions, in addition to the prepackaged bars, trail mix, etc we bring from home. Between that stuff and bottled water my backpack looks like a grocery store.

It's no excuse but it's probably more to with that they wouldnt keep those items in the galleys for the MDRs, which is why it would have taken time. It's more than likely that smeone would have probably have gone elsewhere (probably the room service place) to get it.
