Can you meet the dancers?

We have been on three DCL cruises in the past, but my daughter was always rather little and it was never an issue. Now that she is 12 and a very serious dancer, this topic will definitely come up. Her dream "gig" is to be a DCL dancer when she grows up. I know they don't do a formal meet and greet, but would there be an opportunity for her to talk with the dancers? I know that on other lines the dancers do bingo and such. Same with DCL?

On some of the longer cruises there's sometimes been a Cast Q & A session in the theater. The entertainers (not just the dancers) also do "double duty" in other jobs, but you'd have to ask, maybe at Guest Services, if it's possible to find one of them that way.

On the Fantasy this past August, they had a series of activities for the kids in the Vibe (for 14 - 17 yo) called "Dream Now! Sea How!". One of them was for "Theatrical" The description for it in the Navigator was "Imagine a job where You are the person who brings to life the characters and their stories that have been imagined, dreamed and created. This is where you will meet one of the current Disney performers and will go behind the scenes and experience the magic that is created." They also had one called "Create It" where the kids meet one of the creative minds who works with Disney.

Ask your cruise director; they really do love when passengers come up to them to talk. Based on the timing and cruise they might be able to do something informal or let you know if they'll be doing double duty with characters.

The dancers are also character handlers, while waiting in line for autographs, we got the chance to speak to many dancers and entertainers this way.

I've met a couple this way or on an excursion. One afternoon I recognized the dancer who played "Scar" and complimented him on his performance. We had a nice chat about Disney villains.

Maybe AFTER the show you could say something and if they take that message backstage, maybe a dancer or two would come out?

Funny--I've always wanted to meet the girl who does the Magic Carpet in the Aladdin show.

Maybe this time I'll just ask and see what happens!!

Funny, for years we always sat in the back of the theatre to watch the shows so I never recognized one main stage actor/dancer from another but when we started sitting closer and could actually see their faces then I recognized them when they did the character handling or line control for the characters.

My BIL (Brother-In_Law) always wanted to sit in the front row for all the shows on our trip. Personally, I didn't think it was worth the extra wait (20-30 minutes in line instead of 15 mintues), but my family and I waited with him, so we could all sit together. And you know what? He was right. Sitting in the front row really lets you see the little things. The expressions on their faces. The action away from the action, etc. Not to mention the fact that sometimes the first few rows do get interacted with by the cast. So I'm a convert. But I still didn't sit up there with him every time.

Like others, we've met them informally. I saw a girl in Cove one day, enjoying a coffee and she was so warm and inviting. That was a year ago on the Magic. Recently on the Wonder last month, I chatted up the lady that played "Ensign Benson" in the Golden Mickey's. She was handling Goofy. There was no line and nobody else around and I was waiting for my daughter to finish another meet and greet and come up on deck 9 where Goofy was greeting. We talked for quite awhile. I would look for those types of opportunities.

During the Till We Meet Again show in the lobby on the Magic, when there are all of the lines for pictures with the characters, you could also meet the actors and dancers. There was one group on each side of the atrium, and they had no line at all because everyone was busy with the characters. So we got a chance to to talk to them, take pictures with them and thank them for making our cruise magical. They're so sweet and very happy to be acknowledged.
As mentioned, throughout the cruise they are the character handlers, so you can also chat them up while in line or even if you notice them while walking by. The handler at the Frozen meet and greet was the dance captain (who was also our muster station captain) and he was the nicest guy! We asked him to be in the picture with us and the Frozen gang, he's now permanently part of our photo book :).

Lastly, something sweet that happened to us, the actor who plays Peter Pan in The final show (I think Dream? Sorry...) came up to us at O'Gil's because he had noticed us giving them a standing ovation (we always sat fourth row center) and he wanted to thank us and tell us how touched they were. It was just so sweet!!

So your daughter definitely has many opportunities to talk to the entertainers. That was actually one of the best parts of the cruise for us.

Exactly!!! The pic below shows some of the dancers from the Main Stage cast from their Lion King scene in Disney Dreams. They were fantastic and sadly did not have much of a line at all at the TWMA meet and greet. This was taken on the WBTA a few days ago. They deserve as much attention as the as the characters and are very talented!

We met some of the dancers at other functions. They work at other times of the day too.
