I know the main sales office for DVC is currently at SSR but can you still purchase points with the DVC reps at any of the resorts (like VB, for instance)? My assumption is that you can buy wherever, you just won't get the full treatment...is this right?

I am guessing that you are talking about where the sales offices are located, not which resorts are available for sale.

Disney can only sell from locations where they are licensed to sell. To my knowledge that's SSR, DL, the Mall locations and on DCL when away from port.

I don't think the people at the resorts are guides. I think they set up apointments.

The kiosks at the resorts and Theme Parks cannot sell DVC. They can only provide some cursory information and set up a tour for you. In order to purchase you would still need to visit the sales center at SSR when at WDW or one of the offsite sales centers like Chicago, NY or cruise. You can also purchase via telephone and they will FedEx necessary documents for signature providing DVC is registered to sell to your residence location.

Enjoy!

It seems that those at the kiosks only have basic knowledge about DVC, just about what is needed to get new customers interested in doing a tour.

On my last visit, when I still hadn't received my 2010 guide book, I went to the kiosks at Kidani Village, Jambo House and also at the parks and asked them if they could send me a 2010 DVC Guide Book to the room. They had no idea what I was talking about.

You can call and initiate a purchase for any of the resorts from a CM.:laundy:

But this probably depends on where you are living. If Disney is not licensed to sell timeshare there, they won't talk to you.

I live in Switzerland and when I wasn't a member yet they told me that I could only buy at WDW or on a DCL cruise.

When I finally did buy on a cruise, they had to print out all those contract papers while I was still onboard, since they would not be able to ship the contract to Switzerland. Took them almost 2h because the internet connection was so slow. (And must have cost a fortune in satellite connection fees) :lmao:

Now that I'm a member, they can send me all the stuff without a problem.

If they are licensed in your state, you can just do everything over the phone. They'll FedEx you the paperwork, go over it on the phone and sit on the phone while you sign. You'll have to get a page or two notarized locally, then send it back to them in the pre-paid FedEx envelope. It's that simple.

Note: they also have a sales center at DLR in Anaheim next to the Paradise Pier hotel across the street from VGC.

I believe they can also sell at Kidani and BLT- there are smaller sales centers there. The benefit of buying while in FL is that if you come back to visit, you're more likely to work with the same guide you bought from. If you buy on the cruise or at home, you may never see your guide face-to-face in the future.
