Can you make a cash account before trip starts on a reservation made with points?

I couldn't think bettter how to express myself in the title.

Whenever I've stayed at WDW through CRO, I had a reservation number and would send them checks about monthly as a way to budget my vacation. So that by the time I arrived on property, I had a nice cash account built up on the reservation.

Now I am renting points from a member so wasn't sure if this was still something I could do? I do have a reservation number, would I essentially send the money to member services in care of this reservation?

I realize there are other more profitable ways to budget so not really looking for those tips, this is just a way I prefer as it gets me really excited about the trip.

I've never heard of that being done. I'd say you would be better off doing the same thing on your own and bringing the money with you.

I know people have done this through cro but not dvc. Why don't you take the cash you were going send them and trade it in for disney dollars. I know a few disney dollars always gets me excited for vacation!!!

I don't think Member Services handles cash payments. When a member makes a DVC cash reservation, they don't pay a deposit, it's just payable at arrival so no money is involved in advance.

ok, sounds like this plan is a no go. I think I will look into a Disney debit card perhaps instead.

Planning a surprise trip for husband. Want to have everything pre-paid (food, transportation, etc) so we can just enjoy the trip -- Hubby is a worrier.

Can't put the money in savings or lay around the house, he will find. So thought this might work because I can squirrel away smaller amounts at a time.

May look into money laundering with a friend to have them set up account. I really overthink this stuff too much1

But thanks for your advice!

Not sure the when you had your last trip, but I don't think CRO will do this anymore. I used to do the same thing before buying DVC, but when I went in October they would not allow me to have a credit on my account and even when I applied a new discount code to my account which would have resulted in a $268.00 credit they insisted on refunding it. I tried to insist that they leave it on so that I could spend it at the parks, but they wouldn't allow it. I just invest in Disney Dollars now.

I used the disney debit card in december. They are nonrefundable so if you have money leftover after a trip you must keep it on the card. Also it isn't refillable over the phone. So if after you purchase the card you want to add more and you arn't at WDW you must purchase a whole new card. Susan

Might be easier to buy Disney dollars or travelers' checks.
