February of this year (middle) my family and I decided to take a last minute trip to Disneyworld during Mardi Gras (escaping New Orleans). Everything according to CRO was booked on site so we booked offsite. I had heard about rooms available at the welcome site in Ocala and thought I would give it a try. The CM at the reservation desk checked his computer and said that nothing was available. We moved over the the ticket desk to purchase our Park Hoppers and told the CM working there that we were really disappointed we could not stay onsite. She asked other CM if he had tried calling resorts and he said no. She started calling and found us a room at the AKL right off the bat. Was not able to give us a discount due to the amount of buisness the resorts had, but we loved the Resort and felt it was worth it. This is the reason it seems we are drawn back to WDW year after year.
P.S. Drove by our pick for the offsite resort and realized that we did the right thing. We definitly find that the disney ambiance is what we go for.
