Can you hold two reservations at the same time!

My DH & I are planning a 30th anniversary trip for Dec. 2005 staying at the Poly! We Disneymooned there way back in 1975! My question is can you hold two reservations at the same time? We would like to stay at the Poly for seven nights but will only be able to do so if we should get a great AP rate. I know that is not always a sure thing. So I am thinking of going ahead and reserving all seven nights at the Poly just in case we should be able to secure an AP rate, and at the same time reserving 2 nights at PC just in case better rates do not materialize. If we do not secure the better rates we could trim our nights to five at the Poly and two at PC. If we do secure AP rates we would cancel the PC ressie. I hope all this makes sense! Have any of you had experience doing something similar with your ressies? I would appreciate your advice!

I wasn't sure if I wanted to camp or stay in a resort and they won't let me keep two ressies for the same time. I think maybe if you make one on the computer you might be able to do this but over the phone they told me no.

Well, I believe Disney no longer allows you to hold multiple reservations, but I can see a couple of ways around your problem.

1.) Speak with a CRO rep and explain your circumstances. I'm not sure how accomodating they'll be, but it never hurts to ask.

OR

2.) Make the reservations under two different names. Use your name for one of them, and your husband's name for the other.

Also, you might be able to book a AAA rate now. Depending on when you go, you might be able to save 15% if you're a member.

Good luck! :)

I am doing that exact thing now. I have a AAA rate for both Woods view and Courtyard view at WL in October. If I get a good AP rate or other discount, I'll keep the Courtyard View. If not, I'll go with the AAA Woods View (and hope for one of those free upgrades ::yes:: ).

When I did this, the CM was very helpful. I have a deposit on both, and when I cancel one the deposit will transfer over to the other ressie.

We do have AAA. I have a AAA rate for the AKL for this Dec. 2004. I may try the different names route. We recently did this for our Jan. stay at PC. DH & I are both AP holders. We needed four rooms in Jan., so I reserved three and he reserved one. Maybe we can make two ressies for our dates in Dec. 2005 under two names. I just want to have all my bases covered in any event.

I made them under the same name with the same Disney card. I did not make the ressies at the same time. I made the Courtyard View in July and the Woods View in Dec. When I made the Woods View, I told the CM exactly what I was going to do--cancel one before our trip depending on discounts available--and he had absolutely no problem with that.

Since then, I have called and modified the ressies at the same time (from 10 days down to 9 for each), and didn't have a problem at all with that. At no time was I told there was a problem with having two ressies at the same time. I know, though, people get different info depending on the CM they talk to.

BTW, I made both ressies through CRO.

I know what you mean about getting different info from different CM's! I guess if one way won't work, I'll try another! Thanks for sharing your experience!

You're very welcome. With the lack of discounts and the speed they are snapped up, I finally decided to make that second ressie. I would have had major heartburn if I missed out on a good discount by a few hours knowing the people next to me could be paying $1,000 less for a ten day stay then I was. So, I made the Woods View. That will save me about $400 over a Courtyard View. It will still be heartburn, but not quite as bad. :teeth:

Here's some pixie dust for both of us that we might have good luck where rates are concerned!

By the way, you have a very handsome looking family!

I am going to make two ressies for the same trip because our room depends on if my daughters friend can go with us. We wont know until later this month. AKL is booking up fast and only has room for 4, which is where we are booked now. If this friend goes, we will need to book POR. I am planning to make them with my husbands name and mine but will I get a total refund? If I click on add trip insurance, will I get a 100% refund on everything if I cancel 3 months in advance?

Thank you.:confused3

This thread was started in 2004 - and things have changed a bit since then. Disney is recognizing that people are holding multiple rooms and they may cancel out one, the other, or both.

If you add the trip insurance, you would not get back the cost of the insurance. It's $59.95 per person who is 18 and older in your party. So with 2 adults, you'd loose $119.90 when you cancel.

Sorry Holly, but you cannot keep 2 resort ressies at the same time anymore. Disney has caught on to this, so now if the computer finds that you have 2 ressies, they will cancel them both. Book what resort you are willing to pay for now, and if a great rate comes out later, upgrade.

You can still hold two reservations at the same time. I was able to hold two reservations for the same dates at two different resorts plus a third reservation made directly by a TA.
