DS is in the first grade this year. He thinks he is supposed to do EVERYTHING that comes along. I can't begin to tell you how much money I have spent on bake sales, PTA Fall Festival contests and everything else that has come along so far this year!(Oddball was never a "joiner" like this). He is constantly wanting to take gifts to his teacher and his classmates. I am glad he likes to share, but I need him to understand that there are limits(especially when you have three kids in school).

OK! OK! I got off the subject at hand here........sorry! DS's teacher told the students Friday that "if they want to" they can make a Christmas ornament for a contest. One ornament from each school will be picked to hang on the Christmas tree at the state capitol this Christmas. He really wants to do this(Oddball did this twice and won honorable mention both times). But, I am fresh out of "NEW" ideas. I can't think of anything!!!!!Can some of you talented and creative people help me out?!?!?!?!?

The ornament has to be turned in this Friday, so any quick ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!Thanks in advance for anything you can send my way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

do you have any milk pods in your area........we have picked some of those and painted them and put glitter on them......the same with the pine cones from our trees......sort of makes it from your own state too.....

I saw this idea in a magazine a long time ago, never tried it mind you, but thought it was cute. It was a snowman made from a lightbulb. You take a lightbulb, turn it with the metal part facing up, paint the whole thing white with the exception of the metal, if you desire you can put glitter on it. Paint the metal part black, this will be the snowmans hat. You can add felt for buttons, eyes and a scarf. Take a piece of heavy metalic thread and glue to the back for a hanger and you can glue on pipe cleaners for arms.

I saw a very cool homemade birch bark angel at a craft sale. It was a piece of birch bark curled for the dress part and a painted tiny wooden head. the wings were birch bark too.

Another idea..maybe a pasta angel. You use the little tubes for the body, the bowtie for the wings and a little wooden ball for the head. Paint it all white and there ya go!

Have fun whatever you do!

My mother made some really cute ones one time. You step on an empty cola can and squash it flat. Then you paint a face on the end you drink out of. You break off the tab and you the opening for a mouth. She used pink paint for cheeks, painted eyes, and made different expressions. Used a nail to punch a hole in it and then put yarn in it to hang it up. Coca Cola cans are very cute fixed this way!
