Hi all!

i am going to try for the first time ressie for either Ohana or 1900 PF on a night that we want to take advantage of the AK EMH's. . . so, could you ballpark estimate for me the total time spent at each dinner? I know this will vary by how you eat, etc..... but ballpark for me!

Ohaha _________ time to complete meal

1900 PF__________ time to complete meal

One thing is 1900 PF has a 4:30pm ressie, and Ohana's first doesnt' appear to be until 5pm.

Thanks in advance!

In general Ohanas is quicker, partly because the food comes to you so no lengthy buffet queues and also because there are no characters causing hold ups.

To be honest we wouldn't touch 1900PF again, our meals there have been the worst we have ever eaten either in the USA or Europe shame because the hotel is beautiful. Ohanas is a very nice meal but limited choice if you are a picky eater.

We were seated almost an hour late for our ressies at both places....even though we were there almost 30 minutes before the ressie time. Ohana didnt bother me because it was just DH and I but 1900 PF ticked me off cuz we had the nieces with us...the CM said it was because the diners were not leaving even though they were done with their meals because they wanted to see the characters again.

Our meal at ohana was awesome, the service and the food was great! 1900 PF was horrible, terrible food and terrible service.

I'm hoping by doing the 4:30 (1900 PF) or 5:00 Ohana seatings.... we'd get sat right away being the first dinner reservations... they can't be backed up yet that way!

Thank you for your thoughts on both... I'm leaning toward Ohana.

Others?

Never had dinner at 1900 PF, so I can't compare.

We have Ohana's dinner every time we go. Love the food there! But it takes a long, long time to eat there. In February and August of 2008, our dinners there took about 2 1/2 hours to finish.

Oh WOW!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea! And I don't want to rush a great thing, so maybe our Ohana dinner would be better planned for a different night!

Here's my dilemma:

This day we're doing -------
1.) Epcot rope drop (leave there 1'ish)
2.) Back to POFQ for rest or swim
3.) DINNER - SOMEWHERE (I thought Ohana but maybe not)
4.) Try to be at AK somewhere around 6:30 for eve EMH

Any suggestions of what we should do for dinner on this day??

Well, I have never done the 1900 PF dinner, but I do love their breakfast! And since it is a buffet, you completely control how quickly you get your food. Also, I have a dear friend that has done the 1900 PF Dinner with her daughter three times, and it is her favorite Disney meal. They love the character interaction. Evidently, it's a hoot. And they say the food is yummy. I know the food is yummy at breakfast! So this dinner is a must-do on our next trip.

I have eaten at Ohana's and didn't care for their dinner. I love breakfast at Ohana's, but just not dinner. There are no characters at dinner. The children's show seemed sort of lame to me. At certain times, the children were all lined up and running around the room. I was there with DH (this was back in 2002) and would have preferred a quieter meal.

Also, I didn't care for the meat at Ohana's. The shrimp was rubbery, and they loaded our plates with all of this heavy meat that we couldn't eat. It all had some sort of strange marinade on it, and it was all tough and hard to swallow. We barely touched the meat, and it seemed so wasteful. We ate a little, but it just wasn't that good. The side dishes were good, but nothing outstanding.

The one outstanding thing about our dinner at Ohana's was the view. We were seated right in front of Cinderella's Castle and it was gorgeous! The service was friendly, but we had to wait and wait and wait between courses.

I have been to Disney three times since that visit, and I haven't thought once about making another ADR for dinner at Ohana's. It's just not on our list. But so many here do seem to love it that maybe I will give it a try again with DD. She might enjoy running around the restaurant!

How late is AK open for EMH when you go? If it's 8:00, I'd try to get an 8:30ish ADR at either 1900 PF or Ohana. If I were you, I'd read both menus and make my decision based on which menu appealed to me more.

To be honest, the vast majority of table service meals we've had in WDW have taken at least 2 hours between check-in at the podium and walking out the door. If you make your ADR for after the park closes, you can have a leisurely, albeit late, meal.

This is a really neat idea that I had not thought of! Thanks!
