We have an ADR at the California Grill for 9:30 and I don't want to eat a huge meal at that time of night. Would it be inappropriate to just order a dessert? Thanks for any help :)

You can eat whatever you want! If you only want dessert that's fine. Enjoy, we love this restaurant and their food is exceptional. Have fun!

I would get more input on this.

I don't think that is particularly appropriate if you only want dessert and presumably to be there for the fireworks. I speak from the server's point of view.

I can only assume, from the server's point of view, that it would be a problem with leaving the tip. So, if I leave a large enough tip, would it be considered acceptable to most CM's?

In my opinion, you should be able to order whatever you want. Looking at this from a server's point of view (because I used to wait tables in college), no, I didn't like it when someone took up one of my tables and only ordered dessert, but it was the customer's choice. And I had no idea what kind of a tip they were going to give me until after they paid the bill, so I was just as nice to them as I would have been to a table ordering full course meals. I believe it is the customer's choice what to order and as long as that is not just a glass of tap water or an iced tea, ordering something like dessert only should be allowed. Of course, I don't know if there are any rules about this, but I don't think there are.

this is a restaurant - you can order whatever you want there! Not up to the server to decide what you should order

Tipping discussion is limited to the sticky thread at the top of hte boards. No personal tipping discussions allowed, too much work for the mods :rotfl:

Have a great time! :cool1:
