We are trying to plan a trip for January. It will be my family, my parents and my sister's family. I have never stayed off site so I don't know what to expect? We usually have a couple of resort days; hanging out at the pool and going to other resorts. Has anyone just spent the day hanging out at HIFS?

Hi mirlow- Absolutely! HIFS is a great resort. If there are any kids, you'll have to drag them from the pool. There's plenty to do around the resort and the meals are huge buffet style affairs. The evening entertainment is very family oriented. You'll have a great time there. Did you book with some of the specials offered? A new one just came out, buy 1 night- get 1 free. Another good one is 109.00 per night including 2 free adult buffets each night. If not call the hotel and ask them to modify your ressie to the best deal. When we went last year, our rates started at 162.00 and each time a new disc. came out we called and got it lowered. We finally got 99.00 per night. The phone reps there were wonderful, no hassels at all.
Enjoy your trip.

But remember, Mirlow, that swimming in January is an iffy proposition!

I know, we lucked out last year it was 86 and sunny every day! It will probably be frezzing this year. Are there activites at the hotel to do besides swimming? I did get the free night discount. It comes to about $77 a night.

Mirlow,

I know they have plenty of activities at night.......and during the day they have some activities at the pool such as painting coconuts (think it was $6.95 per child)........miniature golf, ping pong, there is the game room too.........but to be honest with you my kids are 12 and 14, and it was 90 degrees when we were there (end of September), so the pool is where we all stayed for our down day.

Kim

P.S. We actually wish we had more down days, because there were things there that we would have liked to do (especially at night).

Where did you find the free night promo? Is that for every one night, you get one night? We are at the $109 rate but I would switch gladly for the $77 rate and buy my own dinners at McD if necessary!

Thanks for any info!

The rate I have is $139 a night. With tax it's $154.29 and divide it by 2 nights it comes out to $77.14 a night

My favorite line to people about HIFS is that you NEVER have to leave to have a great time! It truly is a fun hotel!

And yes, January is an iffy time, the past two January's we spent there was FREEEEEEZING!

We spent three down days at the hotel on our 10 day trip! It was fabulous!!! The kids didn't mind leaving the parks at all to go back to the hotel because they had such a blast there!!!

Have a great time!
