Can you give someone your fastpass + ?

As far as how one is to remember their FP+ time...wouldn't it be ideal if the new app included push notifications for your phone that would remind you of things you have reservations for? ADR's, FP+, BBB, Parades etc...then again, Disney's IT capabilities are so poor that I can't imagine notifications would ever work. They couldn't even manage to TEXT me my room number like they said they would and claimed they did on our last trip.

I used the MDE app to check my fastpass+ time on my iphone. All you have to do is go to my plans on the app and all your fastpass+ for the day come up. My boyfriends son had the app on his ipod touch as a backup. Also, I just carried a small notebook with me each day on which I had written down the times of the faspass+ for the day (I would usually do this the night before) in case of something happening where we couldn't get on the app.

Although it was easy to get around, technically you were not allowed to give FPs away with the paper system either...

But it was allowed. Did it this past June right in front of the CM working the FP line at Star Tours. I even looked right at him and asked if it was okay to give them to the family standing there. He said it was no problem. If Disney had a huge problem with people giving their FPs away then they did a terrible job training their CMs on the matter.

I'm certain if I was standing at the gate and asked a CM working there if I could give my half used park ticket away to someone in line I would not get the same reply. Both say non transferable but Disney has different standards when it comes to those 2 things.

One of my least favorite aspects of the FP+ system

You are expected to remember it or either note it using your favorite electronic device or a pen and paper. Or you can go to certain kiosks in the parks to look it up.

This is my BIGGEST problem with FP+. We are one of those weird families without smartphones. I am NOT carrying my ipad in the parks, its just not happening. So that means I will need to visit a kiosk unless I write them all down.

My family is weird too then. We all have "talk and text" phones, but no smart phones. If we were to be selected to test FP+ (staying at WL, so probably a moot point) I think I would have DD16 run the whole thing from her iPod (assuming Disney's internet access was good).

if someone has a smartphone, then their reservations are in MDE...other than having a notifcation pop up on your screen, it is easy to look at your reservations & itinerary. i'm sure there will be 3rd party apps coming out in the future that expand on the use of MDE.

I KNOW that. I simply stated push notifications would be nice. I'm not holding my breath though (that it will be implemented or will actually work).

Also, I have to say to everyone that is all doom and gloom about the fastpass+, if you haven't tried it yet you don't know how great it really is! I was just there for a week (been home since Tuesday) and stayed at Pop as part of the testing. Fastpass+ worked perfectly! It actually made our vacation less stressful. I scheduled most of my fastpass+ for our afternoon park, then we got up early to go to another park and got on all the rides we wanted to do there, then went back to the resort and made sure we got to our second park for our fastpass+ time. I even changed some of the times right on my phone on the bus when we were running late. I had to take several surveys and give feedback on my opinion of the bands and fastpass+ and I have nothing but good things to say about it. You won't believe how easy it makes things until you're actually there and using it.

The assumption is made that we all can afford smartphones and Disney trips - otherwise, it's a PITA to have to either write down the FP times, and/or wait in line at a kiosk to check and change times.

We can afford a Disney trip or smartphones, but we can't afford both right now. Perhaps I'll email Disney and suggest that they come up with cheap portable devices that could be rented out during the vacation that would access MDE and FP+.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to assume that everyone could afford both, I was just saying how I personally kept track of the fp+ times. As for writing things down, it really only took a few minutes, theres only 3 of them. They could also be printed out from your home computer before you leave for your trip..I also did that, but I tend to overthink things! Its no different to me than when we used to print out our iteniery for our trips before we left home.

Realistically, physically swapping bands (while it might not be strictly "allowed") probably could be done. The only potential problem would be a 10 year old girl swapping bands with her 50 year old dad. Seeing that come up on the screen might catch the CM's eye.

Just wanted to say that DS14 had zero problems accessing the internet with his iPod a few months ago. Worked great at the parks and the resort (POP) including in the queues for most attractions. He took the photos for the "Live updates" food thread on the restaurant board so we could just text them.

Although they are on our wish list for next year, we don't have smart phones either. It may be archaic, but I wrote down all my info. (Character schedules, ADR's etc....) on index sized paper by park/ day and kept them in a handy pocket of my small bag. I do agree that WDW needs a better way for ALL guests to keep track of their info.

Our family, like many others, has happy memories of spreading the by handing out fastpasses we can't use (usually because DS changed his mind about a thrill ride).
There's nothing like handing them to a child and parent who are approaching a long standby line with dread. They look at you with suspicion, confusion, and then gratitude and joy. I assumed that Disney cared only that we didn't SELL them.

If there's a three FP+ limit, how does that work out for families with various age children, some of whom can't/won't go on the thrill rides? Guests used to be able use the short or scared child's ticket to get an extra fastpass for another person, either on that ride or a different thrill ride.

It's just the name that comes up, right? So if my older DD "accidentally" used her younger sister's Magic Band to ride something twice when younger DD was too scared to ride, would Disney mind?

I wonder if this will change how they handle rider switch when it is combined with fastpass use? We never used rider switch when we could all get fastpasses, instead saving it for standby line situations, specifically Test Track while we held Soarin fastpasses, but I know some people advised me to use rider switch to double our fastpasses.

As I said in another thread (can't remember which one now ) my son and I swapped bands so he could ride rock n rollercoaster again as I had no desire to ride it. I did tell him if questioned by a CM to tell the truth that mom didn't want to ride it and we swapped bands so he could do it again.

You have the option to book different attractions and times for each member of your party. So mom and one kid can ride space mountain while dad can take the other on Peter Pan.

No, but if you miss a FP+ reservation and did not reschedule it, it will be lost.

I'm not a person that has a smart phone....and don't want one. I really don't like carrying the phone I have, but just in case we get separated, it's nice to be able to contact another family member to see where to meet up.

I'm not crazy about all these changes, but we will have to adapt to it. I do like the idea of the bands instead of having to stop and take out the KTTW card each time you enter a park, or go to buy something........

I found it extremely convenient to use the magic bands to pay for food and souvenirs. I didn't mind wearing it all day though I did take it off at night; hubby and son chose to keep them on.
