Can you get table service meals as take out?

My wife and her sister are going to Disney World tomorrow and they are not getting the meal plan. She was wondering if she can get takeout from various theme park restaurants. Like can she go to the 50's Prime Time Cafe and get a chicken dinner to go to the Sci-Fi Dine-in and get a Beef and Blue salad to go?

I think maybe the two of them want to share one meal to save some cash and calories.

Seems to have mixed answers, some say yes and some say no.

I guess she'll just have to ask when she gets there.

No, as a rule the restaurants don't do take out in the way you describe. It's not possible. At any given time, there are thousands of people in a theme park, and only a handful of table-service restaurants, with kitchens that are only staffed for the number of people who are sitting at tables in the restaurant. No way could 50's SciFi, for instance, handle hundreds of people walking up and wanting lunch to go.

There are isolated cases where you can get a particular item to-go if the restaurant isn't busy. For instance, Le Cellier will sometimes allow people to purchase the cheese soup to go. But it's very hit or miss, and certainly not something to plan your meals around.

If your wife's concern is sharing meals, she can do that while dining at the restaurant. People do that all the time, nobody minds at all.

Just to add one more thing; I'm not sure if the restaurants you cited were randomly chosen, but the fun of those places is definitely not in the food, it's in the experience. But I agree with Lynne--those places are designed to efficiently serve the people who are eating there. Every takeout order they fulfill would be one more meal they have to prepare over what the restaurant is equipped for.
