Can you get kicked off of a boat?

Well - we are cruising with a big group of friends that can get a bit rowdy after a few drinks. Has anyone ever been kicked off of a DIsney cruise? .....just curious

The Captain of any vessel has the right to put passengers ashore if he feels they are a harm to the ship, other passengers, crew or themselves. Don't know what the conditions would be but I am sure the Captain would do it if he felt it necessary.

On one of our DCL cruises a teen decided to jump from Deck 4 into the harbor at St. Thomas while we were docked and the Captain ordered him confined to his cabin unless escorted by his parents. Even though we were docked, the propellers were running and it could have ended very differently than the kid just getting wet.

On another cruise we had an abusive guy in the cabin across the hall. He was very drunk and threatening a woman in the cabin with him.....we called security and they were there in a flash....they took him from his cabin and kept him alone in another cabin for the remainder of the cruise. He was forbidden to have contact with the female again. I do not know how they monitor that but DCL definately took action.

What did you say your sailing date was again? ;)

Oh yeah, and welcome to the DISBoards.

Depends on your definition of the word "ROWDY"?

Are we talking just a little laughing and general fun or are we talking about sloppy, obnoxious drunks that use foul language and make everyone around them miserable? After all this is a cruise where there are children.

If their behavior falls into the second category, I doubt that the ship's security would turn a blind eye to their behavior and consequences based on that behavior would be appropriate to the situation.

(In plain English - no one wants to be around a foul mouth, obnoxious drunk!)

Hopefully, your friends are just a bunch of "good ole boys and girls" who know how to party and laugh, but know when to say "when"!

Until this was posted, I had forgotten that there were teens on our last Disney cruise that were confined to their cabins after a improper behavior incident onboard.

What I was told by my then-16-yr-old-son was that security cameras in the halls captured a large number of teens entering and leaving one room and was investigated. For whatever improper conduct was happening, the teens involved in the inappropriate behavior were confined for the duration of the trip.

According to a conversation my son had with a security employee, there was specifically one security employee assigned to monitor teen activites aboard the ship. So while almost anything goes, Disney does have its limits to what they will tolerate.

All ships have a "brigg" or jail area that could be used to contain someone who can not contain themselves. Although security is not seen DCL does have many "undercover officers" onboard to insure everyones safety and well being.

I like Rae am a bit concerned about how rowdy do your friends get when drinking? Maybe Carnival or another line would be a more appropriate venue for them to cruise with instead of a ship full of young children.

DCL is even good about things like people being noisy in the halls late at night. It starts with a gentle reminder in the Navigator asking people to refrain from loud talking in the halls after midnight, moves on to general announcements on the PA system and before shows, then to targeting offenders specifically.

They are really interested in the greatest enjoyment for the largest number of people....so if your actions interfere with the safety of the ship or the enjoyment of other guests, they will take action as needed.

I've never heard of anyone put off the ship (although legally they can do this.) I have heard of people being confined while on board.

Assuming that "rowdy" doesn't equal "picking fist fights with anyone in sight," I think they'll be fine.

Then there was that immature girl on the Hawaiian cruise (other cruise line) with her family that "missed her boyfriend" so she placed threatening notes (terrorist) around the ship and inconvienienced everyone.

DCL does have folks who specialize in keeping tabs on the teenagers during the cruise. That's not to say that teens are the group that causes the most problems (they just tend not to make good personal choices). One of the reasons for the "secret veranda" being closed at night is because of inappropriate behavior.

I assume the the bar staff, the cruise staff and security keep all keep watch over the nightclubs to help maintain a safe, family friendly environment.

Party hard, have fun, don't become violent, crude or totally obnoxious.

What I am about to comment did NOT happen on DCL but...

another line had a smoke free ship and my friends had to sign a notice that they knew they could be put off at the next port if they violated the no smoking agreement. Sure enough at the first port there was a younger couple that were left behind bags and all because they "tested" the no smoking rule.

That said - being kicked off the ship is not the norm but it can be done. Usually a warning or confinement by security is enough.

Now, I'm obviously not excusing stupidity like running down hallways yelling (which, on my cruise, wasn't perpetrated by drunk adults anyway), but... Why on earth would a nightclub need to be a "family friendly environment?"

Wow, Imagine if DCL put everyone off who decided to test the "no jeans and shorts in the dining rooms" rule or for everyone who tried to get into Palo without a jacket. :earseek: Just kidding!

Haven't you seen the "little souvenier" commercial? They didn't say they were actually in their stateroom when they made their little souvenier, now did they? I guess it depends on your definition of "family" and "friendly."

I would say it all depends.........have a few drinks and get "rowdy"at the sailaway party or at some of the deck parties and I'm sure you'll fit right in. Get loud and roudy playing bingo and you might have some blue haired lady throw you off the ship!! LOL I've been know to get a little rowdy but, there IS a time and a place for everything. JMHO

Hey Ann........would singing happy birthday at the life boat drill be considered rowdy?? What if I used the megaphone? What if I got the whole side of the ship to sing it over and over??

Hey Rae, what if we were caught wrestling for that last shrimp at the buffett?? Would that be considered rowdy??

Kimer, I think we are on the same cruise and I am actually relieved that there will be some other FUN people onboard! I thought that maybe this cruise might be a snoozer.

I've been on many a cruises with many a partiers and we've never gotten kicked off! No we are not slobbering drunks (most of the time) but we do like to have some rowdy fun. Most of the time we are just complimented with things like "you girls looked like your were having so much fun!" and "How I wish I was your age again", and "Your the life of the ship, we wouldn't be having any fun if you weren't aboard!" Things like that!

We love to cruise and we love to have fun and we love to meet people! Hope to meet you there!

Rowdy nope,,, just being a good citizen! :)

Kimer,

What is it that you want/plan on doing that you are asking about...? LOL:rolleyes:

Rowdy ( to me) is a rough noisy person that starts fights...
But I know what your meaning....You plan on having a few drinks that you may end up getting loaded,...and you dont want to worry about getting loud, crazy, singing, dancing like a fool, (lol) ....?
I, personally think that is fine, with all fun intended...but not like some other poster mentioned...just as long as you aren't obnoxious.( very unpleasant & disgusting)

Rae said it best! ;)

Have fun and BE GOOD!

The CCL Paradise has strict rules because there are many people who chose this ship due to it being non-smoking. It's the only one out there. You aren't even allowed to have a pack of cigarettes on-board.

Not only are you escorted off the ship, but you are fined.

On another note, knowing that friends are going to get rowdy and obnoxious when they get drunk, why is Disney the cruise line you are choosing?? It's just not appropriate.
