I would like to buy several things of sliced cheese, specifically meunster and swiss that are pre-sliced and some have dividers between them. Has anyone ever frozen them for later use?

Thanks:cool1:

I would think not, but I truly don't know. Just imagine how it is going to be when you thaw it out. Ewwww....

I have frozen like the packs of cheese you buy in the store with the plastic on each piece. It freezes really well..

depending on what kind of cheese it is, you will either have great slices when you thaw it out or you will get crumbles. I think swiss and provalone are crumblers after they get frozen, which is ok with me because I just use them to bake with so it doesn't matter. I know american will freeze in slices, but thats the only one I know for sure.

I have done it before by buying it in bulk @ Sam's Club.
You need to freeze it in a good container or freezer baggie.
Sometimes it comes out crumbly and sometimes it's like you never froze it.
Are you doing this to save room in your fridge or because you have too much?
I buy the 10pound sliced cheese and put some in a container and leave the rest wrapped up well and leave it in the fridge. It never molds and is fine.
Good luck!

I usually buy a big block of LOL sliced cheese. Put it into individual freezer bags and take them out as needed. I usually give the bags a day to defrost before I use them. This has worked great for us.

I freeze the sliced cheese all the time. When Kroger has their brand on sale 3/$5, I buy three and freeze two. I usually get chedder or colby and I've never noticed any decline in quality. I don't put it in any special container or anything, just freeze it unopened in the package it came in and then thaw it in the fridge. It always tastes just the same and isn't crumbly or dry or anything.

It might not work as well if it's frozen for a long time though. Mine usually only sits in the freezer for one or two months at most.

I used to freeze cheese slices from Costco all the time. For defrost I would just take them out a coupl eof days ahead of time and let them defrost in fridge, never had a problem and they werent individually wrapped either.
