I would like to freeze blueberries, my kids love them so much. Has anyone done this? Do you just put them in freezer bags? Do you wash them first? How long can they stay in the freezer? Thanks!!!

Frozen blueberries are the best! My kids both loved them when they were teething. ;)

Just toss them in a colander, rinse them good, pick off any stems & pack them in freezer bags or plastic containers/boxes. I've kept them for up to a year in the deep freezer, although they do tend to get icy toward the end. I'm sure that the experts say to only keep them a few months, but . . . . that's what they say about everything!

They're good in recipes & in fruit salads, but as they defrost they get mushier than when fresh. We just never use them in a bowl with milk or for shortcake after frozen. There are too many other great ways to use them to bother.

Enjoy!

I keep mine for more than a year :)

I also lay them flat on a cookie sheet to be put in the freezer and then when they are frozen, ziplock them. They don't stick together that way.

I also measure them ahead...1 cup and 1/2 cups. Then put all the little ziplocks in a big ziplock and just pull out what I need.
