Red beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans?

Helping someone out, he loves those beans!!!

(he's in phase one)

I don't have my book handy but I'll look it up and get back to you shortly. Unless someone gets back to you before I can! :)

Okay, I'm back. Here is your friend's answer:

Beans are very good protein. They are in the vegetable category and protein category for SBD. In Phase 1 you should not eat pinto beans, navy beans, or black-eyed peas. Their GI number is a little high, but you get them again in Phase 2.

So basically, yes the type of beans your friend is interested in eating are allowed on Phase 1. I was making chili in Phase 1 and still enjoy it from time to time in Phase 2.
