Can you donate Reward points?

My co-workers and I were talking last week about trips to WDW. My one friend's sister-in-law has cancer which is starting to spread throughout her organs. Consequently, she doesn't have much time - they were planning to all go NEXT June - but that doesn't seem feasible.

In short - does anyone know if there is a way to "donate" your Visa reward points to someone else? We thought of getting Disney dollars and giving them, but just wondering if we could redeem to our cards and give the cards to them.

Any ideas are appreciated . .

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear that - cancer is not pleasant, especially when it's completely terminal.

Secondly, given the circumstances, I would contact Disney directly on this one - I'm not sure if their rules & regs would allow it, but the situation may encourage a bending of the rules in this case.

I am not familar with the Disney reward system, but most are pretty similar. In the United miles program you can give somebody else with an account miles from your account, but the person on the receiving end cannot get miles from more than two people a year (ie, they cannot take up a collection of miles). There is also a limit on the number of miles one person can give another - 15,000. The owner of an account can book a ticket in somebody else's name. Visa maintains a program where people can donate miles and then these miles are distributed to non-profit organizations to use as raffle prizes, or to transport patients supported by the non-profit org. Unfortunately, you the donor do not have any control over the distribution of these miles.

As suggested above, i would contact disney directly to see if they will work with you on getting points to your friend.

I've never done it personally, but I have read posts where others have given their rewards cards to a relative to use & didn't have any problems.

You redeem your Visa Rewards in the form of a gift card, which can then be used by anyone. I don't recall it having my name on it anywhere. I think that is a wonderful idea!

I know American Airlines will let you donate your air miles to such foundations as Make a Wish.

I would contact Chase Bank directly. They are the agents for Disney VISA/Rewards. As a previous poster mentioned the rewards are in the form of a gift card. Anyone can use the reward card as no name is printed on it.
