I love to use chopsticks when I am eating chinese food. I am not great with them..but get better each time.

And I think chopsticks are a great diet plan. ;)

I use chopsticks all the time. I knew how to use them at a young age and my daughter knew how to use them when she was 2.

Yes, I can and yes, I normally do.

Of course, I learned in Japan the trick to eating with chopsticks -- they hold the rice bowl up to their chin and just shovel it in. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, and yes, and not only for Asian foods, but also cooked cabbage, and other noodly vegetable dishes.

I can't. I've tried, and when I'm hungry, I don't have the patience to learn to eat with sticks when I can just pick up a perfectly good fork and go to town! :teeth:

ITA!!! However, it seems everyone else in my family can, including DS5, and they love to rub it in my face. I just don't have the patience to learn!

When my sister and I were young, my mother would get annoyed with us because we bolted our food. At school, the faster you ate, the more time you had for recess.

That's when Mom broke out the chopsticks. For three months, we ate EVERY meal with chopsticks except cereal and soup. Didn't have to be Chinese food at all--everything was eaten with chopsticks in an effort to slow us down.

After 3 months, my sister and I were just as fast with the chopsticks as we were with the fork. :teeth: So, yeah, I can eat with chopsticks. I taught dd when she was very young, too. It's a handy skill that frequently amazes your dinner companions. :rotfl:

I can sort of use them but I'm pretty bad at it. I just keep telling myself that when I use them I'm doing two great things at once. I'm learning how to use them better and I take MUCH longer to eat. Because of taking longer I don't end up eating as much as I would with a fork.

Sometimes I can use chopsticks to eat peas by stabbing at them. Other then that I'm hopeless. :confused3

kinda sorta.
DH's grandmother is japanese, so whenever we all have a 'traditional' dish, out come the chopsticks.
i've gotten better over the years!
we went out for Hibachi the other night...I took the 'idiot sticks' (rubber band ones. heheh) just in case...but I managed to eat everything with normal chopsticks. I still hold them weird though, according to DH

however, one time, at EPCOT...we had lunch at the Yakitori house...I was attempting to eat with chopsticks...and there were 4 asian teens sitting across from me. I finally threw my chopsticks down in disgust and grabbed my fork (I was hungry!) and they all proceeded to point at me and laugh.

gee - thanks.

I had to when I moved to NY, to be a Nanny. Otherwise I would have starved, they don't serve forks in the resturants my bosses took us too.

I am not great but much better than my friends here, :rotfl:

I have been using chopsticks since I was 2 years old. Most natural thing in the world for me. My children also have been using them most of their lives. We love to eat Japanese food.

I love chopsticks! I use them whenever they're available.

They actually have little "adapters" at my local Noodles & Company for the chopstick-challenge. I thought that was a nice touch.

I can, but haven't in years. I should teach my kids, but they don't even eat chinese.

My DH and kids love using them. I can use them but prefer not to if there's a fork available.
