We are heading to WDW in September and want to go to Universal for the first time. We are looking to get the 2 park 1 day express pass tickets. Is it possible to see and do alot in 1 day?

I would have to say yes, but the Express Pass will be critical. Arriving early, even with Express is important if you just have 1 day. The big time killer will be the shows.

On a Friday night in June, we did 7 major attractions in both parks in a little over 2 hours. Spiderman, Hulk, Dr. Doom, Cat in the Hat, Mummy, Jaws and Men in Black.

Its possible...With express most likely you can if you go from park opening to close and don't take many breaks. Idk the hours the time your going but I think Sept usually close around 6 so less time. I think others will suggest 2 days but yes I think its certainly possible to do it all in 1 day.

If you get there at opening and stay until close with express you'll do most of the attractions, not very likely that you'll get it all in but if you attack it commando style you'll do allright.

Hi!

As others have said, if you're content to miss out on some of the rides and shows, are prepared to ignore the atmosphere (not like Disney, but it's there) and are willing rush about like a headless chicken then it's possible.

Now, if you just don't have the time and/or are absolutely not willing to pay for more than one day, I can understand the one-day option. When you've got no choice, something is better than nothing.

But really, you need one day per park in Sept., when crowds are - usually - quite manageable.

As with all the Orlando parks, to make the most of your day and ensure that you get to do your favourite ride more than once or twice, it's still highly advisable to get an early start but for a Sept. visit there's absolutely no need to pay extra for the Express Pass. My family and i were in Orlando for 23 days last Sept., 2.5 of those days in Universal, and the relatively few people using Express Passes were the group tourists who had obviously had them included in some sort of package. Sure, we queued up for some of the rides later in the day but not more than 10min or so.....There was also hardly any wait for the rollercoaster front-seats, which usually have longer lines than the lines for the seats further back!

Others will disagree with me but that was my experience last Sept. s that was my 2c worth! :thumbsup2

you would have to stay away from the weekends, be at the park around 8:15ish, have a plan on which rides to skip, and the rest like the others posted.

when you say WE, how many people are you talking about?
if you have more than 2, you probably would skip the single lines.

if you have the express passes for both parks, maybe do the highlights only.
but, you would miss out on the kewl shows.
they are time consuming but well worth it.

a lot will depend on the date you go.

if you go labor day, not a good time.
scratch your goal if you do a weekend day.....

you would miss out on having lunch at city walk if you planned one day only for universal.

when i do the parks, i do not like having a time restriction.
to go in september, the park hours are shorter.

i know i could never do both parks in one day even with the express pass.

i think it probably depends on the time of year, but I can guarantee that it is possible. My son went down with his high school earlier this year, and they did both parks ( and not just the "big rides" )

Another big consideration is if you have children and your stamina level?

We had great advice from this board on getting through two parks in two days but forgot to account for our children's exhaustion in the Florida heat. They were not as willing to forgo sleep or food to go commando style like we were. :rotfl:

Its just me and DB. He has realized on our last trip to Disney that he likes thrill rides more than he thought. So I thought Universal would be a good step. We are high energy people so we are good with not taking breaks. I know that we won't get to see everything but it sounds like you guys think we can do a lot. I want the express pass because I think crowd levels may be high. We are thinking of Thursday or Tuesday, 9/23 or 9/28. And I guess if we really loved it and feel like we missed out, we can go back during our stay. It's our vacation right!:woohoo: Thank you all for your valued information! Its very much appreciated!:grouphug:

The planets would have to all be aligned in just the right order for that to be a memorable day:rolleyes:

Meaning you would need to be there when there are absolutely no crowds, very very early in the morning, pay the extra price for the pass to get on without a wait, don't eat, and hope that the parks are open late.

We tried this a few years ago and that was dumb to pay the extra fee with the one day pass to do both...never got to IOA as it closed very early that day and the Universal park side had long lines.
