Can you clean off your own table please?

We have had a problem with this also, and this isn't just a value resort problem. There would be plenty of free tables to sit at, if the people before us cleaned up their mess.

There are snobs that have their "entitlements" also.

This dosent only happen at Disney :furious: I see it a lot and it really disgusts me that people can't clean up after themselves!!!!:furious::furious::furious:

People not throwing away their own trash is one thing (gross!). They shouldn't have trash just laying around - someone should be going around and wiping down tables to keep them clean. Maybe signs would help.

Dirty carpet is another. Disney should be taking care of that. Overall, the resorts and parks are bringing in big bucks. Changing to tile, some new carpet or the cleaning of that carpet would not kill them.

This is one of the reasons I don't like eating in the food courts.

I agree!

I don't care whether it's value or deluxe. I don't care how sloppy or neat some people are. It's Disney's responsibility to keep their property in good condition. If it's being made messy so fast the employees can't keep up- then they need to hire more people, but not cleaning up your table is not what makes that food court at Pop disgusting.

There's simply no excuse for the condition of the food court at Pop. Honestly, I can't say I've ever eaten somewhere that nasty and gross before and never will again.

Why would they have carpet in a food court anyway? That is just not smart. I see people leave their mess, and if we need a table we will clean it off. But I see plenty more tables that simply need to be wiped off and 2 weeks ago while at WDW, I never once saw them being wiped down. A few times when we had sit at a dirty table, we had to flag down a CM to wipe the tables, this is not just a guest issue.

It wasn't a brilliant idea to have carpet- but they do so they need to clean it or get rid of it.

We saw it at the parks as well- Tortuga Tavern- food all over the floor ( no carpet there), most of the empty tables had no food left, but hadn't been wiped down at all with no CM in sight. The problem is, once it's filthy, it's much easier for people to be sloppy.

Disney is definitely not as clean as it used to be.

That last statement really brought back some memories. I remember on some of my earlier visits to WDW, I was extremely impressed at how well the parks and dining areas were maintained/cleaned. CMs literally picking up anything that dropped almost immediately. You are right, now that seems to be more of an exception, not the rule.

Disney has expanded so much since those days that I bet the employee to guest ratio is not nearly as favorable as it used to be. I am not saying this is an excuse, I am saying that Disney needs to look closer at this.

While it is certainly likely that this is a staffing issue, it is not due to expansion. It is due to Disney staff reductions leading to heavier workloads for the remaining CMs.

I also think it is due in part to people being more piggy than they used to be. Now there is a huge sense of entitlement that people didn't used to have. The whole "I paid good money to be here, so I can do whatever I want and make whatever mess I want. They pay people to clean up after me."

People have a lot less respect for their surroundings then they used to.

Wasn't this like one of the first rules you learn in kindergarten? Pick up after yourself! Drives me crazy when I see people not carrying out the basic act of throwing out their garbage.

This happens everywhere and not just at Disney, and it does seem to be getting worse. I also don't get leaving empty soda and snack containers on the floor of movie theaters and sports venues. I have seen people just dump their peanut shells on the floor. Gross! I know at some restaurants like Texas Roadhouse that is part of the "character" of the place but at a stadium with all that seating that has got to be a pain to clean up!

We have not been to the food courts at POR or the values, but recently at POFQ we found the CM clean-up staff to be very much on top of keeping the tables clean and they did a great job.

Actually, at Texas Roadhouse they give you an empty bucket to put your shells in, but I have occasionally seen people who either don't realize what the empty bucket is for or don't care.

Honestly it happens at club level too. We stay at the Boardwalk and at the Innkeepers Club they have a table to set dishes that are dirty. So many times I have seen people leave them on the tables they are eating at and walk out. Ridiculous really considering my dd who is now 16 has been able to walk her dishes to the cleanup table since she was 6. It is about lack of respect and the new age of entitlement.:confused3

So many people rave about POP on here. I just booked it for next month. Partly because no where else was available, but partly because it gets so many raves.

Now I find the POP food court has filthy carpet? And evidently not enough CMs staffed to clean off the tables of people who don't realize they should clean them off themselves?

I don't remember these issues being that bad at ASMo last year.

I have a friend coming with me who said he wants to stay at a "world-class resort." I told him we're going to parks and the WDW values are fine. Clean, good service and functional.

But now filthy food courts? Maybe we'll have to move offisite.

If your friend is wanting a "world-class resort", a value resort is not what you want.

You won't see me praising Pop- Our resort was fine for what it was- an inexpensive ( by Disney standards) hotel. What I'd tell someone if they asked is this- The rooms are cheap, they're clean. Service - outside of a bad experience with bell services- is acceptable. There are a ka-zillion kids. Don't eat at the food court.

The carpet is not a staffing issue. It's a choice they've made not to do maintenance cleaning on it. A vacuum won't fix what's wrong with that disgusting carpet.

What I told him is that he won't get a "world-class resort" at any Disney resort. If he wants that we need to move off-site.

This is basically what I told him. My previous experience with a Disney value was ASMo. The room was clean, the service was fine, I was pleasantly surprised by the bus service based on what I read here ("OMG! THE ALL-STARS SHARE BUSES!!!! POP doesn't, and that's the most important thing in the world!")

Based on my experience at ASMo I agree with everything...except I thought the food court there was fine. I was there every morning for breakfast early enough to make rope drop. Once for dinner around 5ish. Is the POP food court that much worse? I know there's about a thousand more rooms, so this part does concern me.

We just returned from Pop (our second August trip in a row). I did not notice any people leaving trays of garbage around. There were lots of Cm's washing tables but thankfully no evidence of garbage. The carpets? They're probably filthy........ I tend to never look down or notice anything below the tables so that doesn't bother me too much. :goodvibes

I agree, POP is no where near a World Class Resort. We stayed there on one of our WDW trips and it was fine as a place to change clothes and have all the Disney on-site perks but it is a value resort. We still had a great time but if your looking for world class accommodations, I think you will be disappointed.

Hey Pete . Do not despair and pardon this post if it's a repeat. I dropped my phone.
I started this thread just to promote a good will among us reminding all to clear up their own mess after what I witnessed there last week. I was truly disturbed when I got home. However it was never meant to be a negative review of the POP in general. It is an affordable fun place to stay. The rooms are clean..The staff is courteous and helpful. Best of all, IMO, the transportation is one of the best out of all the resorts. The pool and bar are great and the activities for the kids plentiful. The food court needs some TLC to get it back where it use to be but You will still have a wonderful trip.

I can't make a comparison to other food courts as this was my first and last trip to one! lol

However, if you're planning on being there early enough to get to rope drop, you may be okay. Those of us who have little ones have a tough time getting up and gone that early and find time to make it to the food court too!!

As far as noticing the carpet- my world now revolves around this little person who is just barely 3 feet tall- so I tend to notice things on his level. He also likes to pick up things that no one should touch and see how they taste, so we're always looking at the ground. ;)

Bus service was quite good. I admit to almost going into panic mode the first time I saw the line at the resort bus stop backed up past the chains, but they are amazingly good at clearing it very quickly. We only had one bus issue and that had nothing to do with the resort itself, rather a really bad driver. It did get taken care of quickly and efficiently, so I have no complaint in regards to the busses.

Again, I told him if he wanted a world-class resort, we won't get that anywhere on Disney property...much less at a value.

I have stayed at ASMo. I know what that experience was like. But at least the room and the food court seemed clean. Not "beyond filthy" as someone said about the POP food court.
