I know you have to pay the balance when you check-in, but if we needed/wanted to, could we check out early and get a refund for the un-used nights? Just curious. Thanks!:D

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think the 5 day cancellation policy goes into effect if you were to try to do this. I think (again not sure..) that if you don't modify by 5 days prior to checking in, you would lose the amount of those nights. At the very least, you would have to drop those nights 5 days before leaving, even if you could do it after checking in, so your trip would have to be at least 6 days long or longer. They have made exceptions for people that fall ill, have an emergency back home or something, but I think you do have to make any changes or drop nights, 5 days before checking in. I could be wrong. Anyone know for sure?

You might want to check with Disney on this but I have to concur with the previous poster that with a 5 day cancel policy, you would have to make any changes at least 5 days ahead.

I decided I wanted to go home a day early and called the front desk the night before and asked them about it. When we checked out the next morning they put a refund for the last night on my credit card.

Three or four years ago we were staying at POR for 5 nights. On the second night a huge blizzard started from the mid-atlantic states all the way up to Maine. Our airline called us on our cell phone down in WDW and said that if we wanted to get out in the next 5 days we had to leave that evening. Even after we had the airline rep. speak to the front desk and all of us were glued to the TV watching the airports being shut down, POR would not even give a partial refund on the remaining 3 days. I can't say I blame them as it is a business and they certainly didn't create the weather. At the time I must admit I was wishing for a little less business and a bit more compassion;) . Good luck. We've been in this situation, and it is the resorts choice as to how they want to handle the situation, is what I was told. Once they would not refund 1 day (had to return home early) claimed we were in a package due to having an ap discount, and once we were very unhappy with the boardwalk villas and arranged to checkout and move to contempary resort, and the contempary resort had to talk with boardwalk villas to "move" our payment over to that resort since we were continuing our vacation on disney property they would but only because of it otherwise we would of ate that bill.
