I am a new DVC member and we just purchased AKV. I love AKV but may in the future like to visit some of the other resorts. If I have made a res. for AKV 11 months out, can I change locations at the 7 month mark if something else is available? Or is this not really something that should or can be done? My reason being I know far in advance our vacation days and would hate to not make a res. and then not be able to go. Just curious, thanks in advance for any help! :)

We did that for our upcoming July vacation. We are SSR owners so I booked a two bedroom and a studio at 11 months. I was able to switch the reservation to a Grand Villa at 7 months at OKW.

The ability to switch varies greatly with what time of year you are traveling and what resort you want to stay at. ::yes:: If you are going for VWL at Christmas or BCV for spring break you are probably going to have to waitlist, which is not neccesarily a bad thing.

We tried to switch from BWV to either BCV or AKV at the seven-month point, even resorting to the waiting list, with no success.

By the same token, you could try to find my wife and I in a few years, and we'll be happy to swap our BWV points for AKV points every so often.

So when you are waitlisted do you get to keep your current reservation and only switch if your waitlist becomes available? How is it trying to get BCV or BWV in June? I have always wanted to try those hotels.

Yes, you keep your current reservation until the waitlisted request becomes available.

I assume if I couldn't get BCV at seven months in November, June would be equally as risky.

you can't say - cancelations happen alot.

you may be the lucky one to get your villa - but the next person calling gets told all gone for that resort.

you just can't say.

BCV is pretty busy during the summer, spring break (although this is probably a better bet - some of the spring break is just too cold for that pool), and during food/wine festavial.

the big attraction is that pool!

oh forgot -if BLT is actually going to be a DVC resort. Would expect alot of the pressure off BCV - at least for a few months.

that might be a great time to get a BCV villa.

If you want BCV waitlist for it - I was waitlisted for BCV for this past April (spring break) and it came through for us in Dec (for an entire week, not a day by day waitlist)...so it can and does happen! ::yes::
