Can you byob?

You may bring onboard whatever liquid refreshment you wish (in any amount). DCL requests that whatever you bring onboard, you place in your carryon luggage, and not your check in luggage.

DCL also requests that your personal "stash" of alcoholic beverages be consumed in your stateroom.

The only exception being, if you have a special bottle of wine you would like to drink at dinner. In this case, you will be charged a corkage fee for opening/serving the bottle in the dining room.

So if you want to relax by the pool and have a beer, you need to buy it on board?

DCL do indeed operate a BYOB policy.
But it is strictly stated in the T's & C's that it is only to be consumed in your Stateroom, and not in public areas.
1 glass of wine or beer is "tolerated" when taken into the MDR's.

If you search on here you will find many many post's stating that previous Guest's have abused that unique DCL privilege, and taken their own bought beverages else where on the ships.
Also that people have had a waiter bring them a bucket of ice by the pool, or a server allowed them to bring a bottle of wine into the MDR's and waived the corkage fee, or ignored the abuse.
(a waiter or server isn't going to get a good tip, or a tip at all if they upset a Guest, or risk an unjustified spurious complaint ;) )

This isn't a request like dining attire, it is a rule.

DCL tried to introduce a 1 bottle of wine, 6 pack of beer and no liquor policy.
It stood for 24hrs, until there was an up roar as it was introduced with little more than a few week's notice, ill thought out as a 3 day cruise had the same allowance as a 14 day cruise, and then retracted it quickly.

If people continue to abuse that privilege, and try to or do disobey it, then the restricted alcohol policy may come back into force. (some say it could be imminent anyway as it has been abused so much in the past)

Make sure you pack any water, soda, alcohol or spill able liquids in your carry on, and enjoy your cruise with BYOB in your Stateroom!

Ex Techie :)

If you want to carry ONE beer to the pool, be sure you don't have it in a glass container as they are not permitted on the pool deck. if you start carrying bottles of beer or full six-packs to the pool you will be in violation of that rule.

The posts seem to conflict. Last 2 times I cruised I packed cans in my suitcase is this not allowed anymore?

It has never been "allowed". It's just that some people did it, anyway.

DCL requests that you carry on your drinks.

Just for reference, the picture below may explain the request. It is one of the luggage rooms where the bags wait to be delivered:

trying to sort that out... I can't even organize my bedroom. :scared1: :rotfl2:

So I am allowed to carry ONE beer in a can? I am confused.

Not sure why I am even asking as I am not a beer drinker and really don't drink alcohol at all. But my DH occassionally has a beer.

How is the alcohol priced on board? Is it as pricey as WDW?

I don't recommend walking around with your own liquor. They have a policy that says drink it in the stateroom. And a good way to call attention to yourself is to bring glass bottles or glass containers to the pool deck. If they see the booze out on deck, they're probably not going to tell you to take it back to your stateroom; they're going to restrict how much you can bring on board like the other cruise lines do. They've already tried this once, but it was a bad policy, so I would think they might be working on a better one. Technically by the letter of the policy you are not supposed to carry anything around if you brought it on board yourself, unless you are bringing a bottle of wine to the dining room (which is subject to corkage fee).

The prices are a bit lower than WDW but it is still a great savings to bring your own.

Thank you! :thumbsup2

Get yourself a cup from the drink station and consume what you like when you like where you like.

Simple!

That's my plan... I figure if my coke has a bit of rum in it who's going to know.

You will.

Disney's alcohol policy is really a boon for a lot of people, and their restrictions are very reasonable. I hope they don't once again decide to restrict alcohol amounts (as they did recently), or cut if off completely to be consistent with every other cruise line I know about.

Alcohol brought on board is not to be consumed in public areas. So enjoy a leisurely drink in your stateroom and thank Disney for yet another of their customer-friendly practices!
