Hi,

I know the min pts you can buy is 150 but I was just doing the math and it looks like 190 would work for us. Can you buy 190pts or can you only buy in 50pt lots above the 150 min?

You can buy any number of points from Disney...when we bought, our guide had us considering a 163 point contract (had to do w/points needed to trade for a week at one of the non-WDW resorts)...we opted for the 150-point contract, but did look hard at 163 points...so it can be done...

Pixie dust!

You can purchase any amount (up to 2000) on one contract, as long as the contract is at least 150 points. For "add-on contracts" (where you already have an existing 150+ point contract), the minimum is 25 points (cash or outside financing) 50 points if you want to finance through Disney.

Thanks. I am thinking we need around 190 based on the point charts for the BCV and the BWV. We usually make two trips. One in Jan for a Sat to Fri and one in Sept for a Sat to Sat. We stay at Disney owened resorts for both of these trips. We also try to sneak in a long weekend trip and usually stay at the S/D for that trip. It is just the two of us with no plans for expansion :sunny: so the studio would meet our needs and we would want the perferred view, assuming that equals savanna view at the AKV.

I know that right now the SSR is on sale with a referral for $86 a point. What are the drawbacks other than not being able to book until 7months out if I was to buy the points at this cheaper price and it also appears to have cheaper maintance fees, and make SSR our "home" instead of waiting for the AKV and making that our home, possibly at a higher per point price.

If we did not want to finance and just wrote Disney a check, so to speak, for the total amount of the points then do they still try to charge you closing costs?

I have spoken with a guide and the official informaiton package about the DVC in general is on its way but they cannot officailly speak about the AKV but she told me that they coded me as being interested in the AKV.

Any and all informaiton/comments about what I am thinking of doing is welcome.

Really, the only drawback is what you've already stated: having to stay at SSR if you can't book your preferred resort at the 7-mo window. And that's not exactly a Motel 6! :teeth:

I think anyone on the fence about purchasing should really do so before AKV starts selling because they probably won't need to offer the types of incentives that come along with SSR right now (or maybe even better ones to speed up the sell-out process). Unless of course, your heart is set on staying at AKV...then you'll have to pay for that privilege.

If you are talking about purchasing 190 points, you might want to consider buying a 150 point Master contract and then purchasing a smaller 40 point add on contract with the same UY.

This option would provide you with some flexibility if you ever wanted to sell only a portion of the points. Contracts of 150 points or smaller seem to be a little easier to sell. Some 100 point and under contracts may even sell at a premium.

Just a little food for thought. :)

WE bought 190 pts. at OKW in 2004 from The Timeshare Store. We have used them wisely so far but now are considering an addon. There have been a couple of occasions where 30 to 40 more pts. would have been real nice...smjj
