can you burn candles?

can you burn candles in your resort room? or are you taking a chance on setting off alarms and sprinklers? i love my yankee candles ,and i was thinking of brining one from home to get rid of that not always so nice hotel room smell.

I would imagine the answer is no. Too much of a fire risk.

Yes, you can burn your candle. I bring a lavender one with me for in the evenings and have never set off sprinklers or alarms.

I know it might take up a little space but why not bring a candle warmer?

Candles give me the willies...I work in property managment and many fires in apartments are started by candles. Not saying you aren't a responsible candle user, though!

Technically it is a fire code violation to burn a candle in a hotel room.

Housekeepers in many areas are trained to report finding candles in rooms to managment.

Does this mean you will be reported in WDW? No idea.

I use febreeze room spray or even yankee room spray, or a plug-in, rather than use candles in hotel rooms.

I would get one of those candle warmers that melt them from the bottom. A coworker uses one in our office space and it's so yummy smelling, but no fire risk.

Wow. My husband is a fire chief and I thought this was a joke question, but it appears there are some of you out there would would actually do this. I cannot believe ANY hotel would condone guests burning candles in their rooms if they knew about it.

i knew really that you couldn't do it.,and i would never be brave enough to do it. i like your ideas though of the candle warmers,and the febreeze and really when you think about it you aren't really in the rooms long enough to smell them anyway.

I would hope no one would do this.. its so dangerous and could be catastrophic... As a victim of a house fire caused by a single Yankee candle less than 2 years ago I am terrified of anything fire related. The thought of someone burning a candle in a resort makes me very nervous...
There are so many things like plug ins and sprays that are just as effective and safe...

Besides the fire hazard, I don't want my room smelling like a candle because the previous person wanted to smell it.

My niece burning a Yankee Candle caught my sister's bathroom on fire. To light one in a hotel is not only putting you at risk but everyone else in the resort who has no choice as to the risk.

How about using a car freshner for the length of your stay if you MUST have a Yankee Candle scent in your room. There are lots of different scents available and for the time of your stay the scent schould be potent enough.

This is what I was thinking too!!! I am so glad that we camp in our own RV. Burning candles really freaks me out. I used to be a responsible candle burner, or so I thought. Never again.

If you burn a candle in your hotel room, you are not only putting yourself at risk but also the lives of hundreds of families in the hotel. No matter how responsible of a candle burner you think you are, it only takes one time of falling asleep or leaving and forgetting to put it out to start a catastrophic fire!

That's pretty dangerous plus alot of people are allergic to many of the scents. I know I am.

I also thought that would be a no under Disney's smoke free policy.

Please do not do this. There are many disabled people that go to WDW for the accessibility including my boyfriend who uses a power wheelchair. I can get him out of the room if you start a fire with a candle, but quite doubt I would go back into the room to get his $12,000 chair out as well. Then you would have essential taken his freedom away.

It is pretty selfish to put 100's of people in jeopardy just because you want your room to smell pretty. Use air fresheners or plug ins. I don't think you should even use a candle warmer, I would think if it came into contact with paper etc, it would be a fire hazard too.
