I mean the very basic stuff, like peanut butter, crackers, candy and maybe some 12 packs of soda if I decide not to get the drink package.

I looked up Princess Cruises since my child was planning on going with the grandparents, but that was cancelled when they were COVID positive. All I can find is that they have severe limitations on bringing aboard beverages, including bottled water and soft drinks. They would have to be in cartons or cans. Alcoholic beverages apparently are limited to one free (but with corkage if consumed in a public area) and any additional require the corkage fee, even if consumed in the room.

Guests agree not to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages on board for consumption or for any other use except as follows:

  • For Guests of legal drinking age, an allowance of one (1) bottle of wine or champagne (750 mL in volume or less) per Guest per Voyage may be presented to security during embarkation. A US $20.00 corkage fee will be charged should Guests wish to consumer their wine or champagne in the ship’s public areas.
  • A US $20.00 corkage fee (which is subject to change without notice) will apply to each additional bottle (750 mL in volume or less) beyond the one-bottle per Guest per Voyage allowance. Limitations apply, and wine brought in quantities deemed to be excessive by the vessel or security will be refused.
  • Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles. A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in Guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage). A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person. Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding.

I feel like I’m all over your posts. 😁

We took carnival out of port Canaveral. We flew in, so no car. There is a small supply store at the port that the crews use to buy stuff. We bought a few things there to take on board. I do remember my friend wanted just a couple cokes and didn’t want the drink package. She was able to buy a couple cans of coke at a reasonable price to keep in her room. We saw some people with 12 packs of sodas boarding the ship. I never noticed this on royal Caribbean but I wasn’t really paying attention either.

So, I guess rules about drinks may vary. Once you decide on your destination and cruise line, you can study up on the rules. If you are wanting some handy snacks. You can bring whatever you want. You can also order room service.

Simple answer to your question - yes, all the things you mention here are allowed. You can also buy food in port and bring it aboard.
NCL does not allow beverages to be brought onboard except for wine with a $15 corkage fee, although this fee is dismissed if the passenger has an alcohol beverage package.

Royal Caribbean did not allow us to bring our own drinks on board before we sailed. We had to purchase their drink package and it had to be the same package for everyone in the room. I don't drink alcohol because it hurts my stomach, but I do drink soda, so it was a very expensive package for me. I did start ordering "virgin" drinks, but it was still ridiculously expensive for the package.

We were allowed to bring a few cans of soda back from ports with us on board. Any alcohol purchased from ports was held until the end of the cruise. We did purchase a few bottles of rum to take home from one of the islands and it was held for us.

This was 2016 so they may have changed their policies at this point.

When I sailed royal caribbean, you could have one do a soda package. It’s the alcohol where all in the room have to have it. Or at least all of legal age.

You can bring a 12pcak of water or soda

We bring snacks to bring off of the ship, especially for my daughter with celiac.
That I can understand. I didn’t see the OP explain and wasn’t sure if it was just to have snacks on hand.
If it’s their first cruise they may not realize the amount of food that cruisers have access to, and how full you feel most of the time walking (waddling) around!
