I am planning on buying a conch shell in key west, since my 4 year old has already told me that he wants one. Is there any law about brining shells back into the US after the cruise? I am sure that they probably sell them on the islands also?

Also does anyone recommend some place to purchase them? We will be on the Western Caribbean. Thanks. :sunny:

As long as you can prove that you bought it, you can bring it back in. They are adament about not bring shells back in that you picked up on the beach.

yea, I had gotten some on the beach in Port Canaveral and had to leave them on the ship. :-(

It seems as if everyone was picking up shells on Castaway Cay. I had no trouble with shells, but then again I kept to a small collection of little ones.

Unless you bought it, you should take only pictures and leave only footprints. If every guest took one shell, there would soon be none left for future visitors. Think about it...2500 people on a ship times three visits a week. That would be nearly 30,000 shells in a month.
