We're going to WDW before our cruise in June. This is our first ever cruise so we don't really know the "rules." Every time we go to WDW, I always buy a box of those Mickey coconut patties and 2 boxes the Mickey shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate to bring home.

We're driving to WDW this year to visit friends in Florida after the cruise. I can't imagine I could leave those things in my car for 4-5 days and it not melt in June! Can I bring them on the ship?

Yay, thanks! I was really worried about not getting to bring home my normal goodies.

You can bring food onto the ship, but it must be in its original container and must not be opened.

I don't plan on opening it until we get home. I'm assuming they don't sell that type of stuff on the cruise, right?

They sell some of the stuff but not everything. I think you can actually get the shortbread cookies, but it has been a while since we sailed last (almost 2 yrs). You have a better selection in the parks as they can only bring a limited amount of merchandise on the ships.

It's easier to take things ON than bring them OFF, lol, but as long as they are not home made goodies, you can usually take them off easily.

They get a bit concerned about anything perishable, but pre packaged stuff has always been ok for us as long as it wasn't opened. If you eat a few, I'm actually not sure!! :goodvibes

Make sure you have your receipts with you in case there's any questions with customs you will have proof you bought the items in the US and not on the ship.

Why would it matter whether you bought it on the ship, or in the U.S.?
Booze and expensive jewelry sure, but cookies and candy? Even without proof, you can bring in $800 worth of stuff per person duty free. And even then the duty is only 3% of the value......that's would be 30 cents on a $10 box of cookies.

Because if you are close to your limit and your purchases get questioned then you have proof that the items you brought onboard were not bought on the trip. This would go for any souveniers that you bring onboard, not just cookies and candies.
Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to customs issues.

Aren't there rules about carry fruit or certain foods off the ship? Packaged cookies wouldn't apply but on a RC cruise we watched a fruit carving demonstration and they made a little teddy bear for ds. He loved it but couldn't take it off the ship to bring home.

Are there some other edibles with similar rules?

op, I think you're good with pre packaged cookies, etc. Just keep them unopened w/receipts in bag.

Like I said, in the situation mentioned, we're talking about pennies in duty.
And, I just double checked the duties, on Caribbean cruises the allowance is $1600 not $800 per person, so assuming a family of 4, that's $6400:scared1: of stuff you can bring in before you start owing duty.
Do people really spend that much on stuff on a cruise? That's darn close to what I paid for my entire cruise before air fare.

Thanks everyone. I don't plan on opening the cookies/candy...just didn't want to leave them in the car to melt, and I guess ants, too! I also don't plan on doing that much shopping. I know there are some different rules re food, so that's why I was checking. I suppose we could always just stop at DTD after visiting our friends on our way out if we had to.
